Would you recommend for beginners?

I would not recommend these designs for beginners as the cloth is woven tight (18-count) and you'd have to know how to do various stitches. Although, in the instructions they show you how to do the stitches. But for a beginner I'd recommend you start with a 11-count or 14-count cloth. The cross-stitches will be larger and easier to learn the variations of cross stitches. Then move on to a higher count cloth with more intricate patterns. Hope this helps.

They are French knots. I don't like making so many French knots so what I have done was use beads that are small enough and colour of white or whatever the design calls for the French knots. Hope this helps you out.

Does this kit come with thread and frame?

the kit needed to make it comes. however you need to buy a small hoop and a frame on your own.
