Modern Calligraphy: Everything You Need to Know to Get Started in Script Calligraphy Paperback – 1 May 2017

I have a few calligraphy books and this one is different from the others in that the section on how to form your lettering is fairly short, but there are lots of lovely ideas and instructions for ways to use your calligraphy skills and combine them with other techniques, watercolour in particular. There are lots of tips on how to use a range of materials and the book combines inspiration with practical advice.

Great book for beginners and for people with experience. There is plenty of variations to try and the tips and theory are very clear and useful. So far it is my favorite about modern calligraphy, I highly recommend it.

Great book

If you already have some experience in writing Copperplate/Anglaise and hunger for some inspiration, this book is for you. Molly Thorpe gives good advice and very down-to-earth descriptions. Her style is not super exact but this has its charme. And still: you have to practice nonetheless. But a good Copperplate practice session calms your mind.

One of the great resources I have to hand when learning or developing my calligraphy technique. Arrived in good time and is a great resource. Lots of valuable information. Although it's an American book and the prices quoted are in US$, the techniques and information within are relevant to all.

Super book with loads of inspiring ideas. Maybe a beginner could find it a bit daunting, but it does help with the basics if you read it thoroughly.

Loved this book, from start to finish, clear, concise instructions. Very easy to follow and extremely interesting. If interested in modern calligraphy I would thoroughly recommend this book.
