Zyxel Hybrid Cloud Wireless Access Point Dual Band 2x2 antenna, 1,2Gbps PoE (Standalone or Cloud Managed) UK Plug [NWA1123-ACV2]

Once you've configured this ZyXEL access point it just gets on and does a great job of providing excellent WiFi coverage. This is a professional piece of kit and you do need to download and read the comprehensive 130-odd page manual from the ZyXEL website. As an IT professional it wasn't too hard to configure, but many would find it useful to have a 'simple configuration' guide which is sadly missing. I suppose I could dock a star for that, but I'm not going to as this device works so well.It will work as a simple repeater but to relegate it to that task defeats the object of using it. Using it as a true access point (AP) hardwired back to the main router is the way to go. I've used various repeaters before to extend my VirginMedia SuperHub v2 which is located in my office to one side of my house and found them wanting, especially when streaming video.I have the AP mounted high on the wall in my hallway roughly centrally in my 5 bed, 3 story, 1930's house and coverage is excellent. It generates significantly more transmit power and has a more sensitive receiver than the SuperHub; side by side there's no comparison on range and while both give a 72Mbps link speed (on 2.4GHz band) the ZyXEL has almost twice the throughput measured using Speedtest.net (yes, crude but a useful comparator) and, of course, its physically much easier to install in a useful location.Though supplied with a wall wart power adaptor the real beauty of this unit is its Power over Ethernet (PoE) capability which makes it a doddle to install requiring just the data cable and no worries about finding a power socket nearby. I'm feeding it through a  BV-Tech POE-SW501 10/100Mbps 4 PoE Port + 1 Uplink PoE Switch with IEEE 802.3af, 65W  switch about 7m away but I also tested it with a  Solwise 500AV HomePlug Ethernet Adapter with 802.3af PoE & AR7420 Chipset  which is a more expensive but neater option, especially if you haven't got wiring back to the router.There are faster access points (AC1750 etc) but this AC1200 unit is a good balance of price and performance.

Over the past 18 months I have purchased 4 of these Zyxel Access Points (AP) as my WiFi needs have grown. They certainly deliver the goods!!!I power each device locally using the supplied 12v plug-in PSU. Each AP is connected back to a HP Procurve switch using CAT6 cables. Dual band (2.4GHz & 5GHz) coverage is very good - no dead spots - even with two thick stone walls between the AP and the receiving devices. Impressive signal penetration.I use the Zyxel cloud-based Nebular Control Centre (free version) to manage my four APs. This allows me to see how each AP is performing and how much traffic each AP is carrying AND how many users are on each AP. Using my phone and the Zyxel app to scan the bar code on the box allowed me to add the AP to my Nebular Control Centre (NCC) and configure the IP address, subnet mask, DNS and gateway of the new AP before even unpacking the box! Then connecting the network cable and power starts the AP going through its configuration cycle pulling in the network configuration I had already set up on the NCC. This is how device management should be! Well done Zyxel. Very Impressive.

Good product but it did not improve coverage in our 3 bedroom semi as much as I was hoping,

First review I’ve ever left on Amazon. Finding decent Wifi kit can be a nightmare. If you are Techy enough to be looking at this product then you will have no problem setting it up. Be mindful though that you will need power over Ethernet adapter at the other end if you are running it as a separate hard wired AP to boost the signal in your home. We had a new loft conversion recently and I left a cable behind the walls to take this up there and it has worked fantastic since day 1 (had it for 4 months now). Way better than the signal from the standard Virgin Router downstairs and has generally boosted the WiFi signal across much of the house to full bar. We have a 5 bed detached with old brick walls, not studs (other than in the loft conversion) and it does the job, even connecting iPhones first time, all the time which I have always found is weirdly and irritating not straightforward at all. The box is very low profile, you don’t even know it’s there. Just hangs like a smoke alarm and has no trouble carrying multiple devices at the same time.

Another great Zyxel product. This is my second Zyxel Access Point bought improve wireless coverage by creating a mesh network. The AP was easy to install using Nebula (Zyxel’s cloud management software) once registered it automatically picked up settings of the original AP and built a Mesh Wi-Fi network. Now I have a seamless wifi network across the house which keeps the family happy as they don’t have to keep changing to different wifi networks.

I installed this in my house as I wanted a discreet AP with good coverage. It is a neat design and works easily with POE. The negative of this product is the software which is cumbersome to use, prone to bugs and overcomplicated. Ive had issues with even changing a password. I'm fairly computer literate but this would not be recommended for an average home user as some options and the GUI are fiddly.

I have now purchased 3 of these Access Points for use accross 2 sites. So far I am please with their performance and monitoring capabilities.Straight away from when they were connected we could notice a dramatic speed increase by nearly double the old system.The SSIDs and Splash screen were very easy to configure through the web interface and RADIUS integration was very straight forward.Unfortunately I do not have capability to run on PoE yet, so I cannot comment on the performance of this.The only issue that occurred was during the setup when I had to manually disconnect and reconnect the APs because they would not automatically connect to the cloud management. Once this had been corrected, there have been no further issues.

Je viens de prendre deux points d'accès Zyxel car j'avais déjà un point, un peu plus ancien, de cette marque. J'en étais très satisfait. Seulement, je suis dans un bâtiment assez grand (800m2 au sol) avec beaucoup de murs, portes, etc... et l'appareil installé couvrait à peu près 200m2 sur 2 niveaux. Là, les appareils me semblent plus puissants que celui d'avant et surtout l'installation est easy !! Leur système de Cloud c'est top. Le mieux est de l'installé avec le tél portable car la config avec le site internet est plus complexe. Après, une fois installé, on pet gérer depuis le site c'est top ! J'ai donc ajouté mes deux bornes et je couvre mes 1400m2 sur deux niveaux à peu près partout ! Franchement c'est hallucinant la puissance et la simplicité. Au top pour un usage professionnel. Je me demande si je ne vais pas l'utiliser aussi à la maison tellement ça amplifie de partout le signal !!

Prodotto molto valido e affidabile. Ottima la resistenza e qualità dei materiali usati. Consiglio questo prodotto a chi ha questa necessità. Ottimo il rapporto qualità/prezzo!

Einfache Montage, Stromversorgung über PoE, genial, wenn ein LAN-Kabel an den Montageort gebracht werden kann.Das Gerät erzeugt bei mir eine tolle Abdeckung auf einer Etage. Im Stockwerk drüber oder darunter kommt allerdings kaum noch etwas an, DHH Neubau mit Stahlbetondecken. Habe allerdings damit gerechnet, daher werden noch zwei weitere APs installiert.Im Vergleich zur vorherigen Abdeckung mit devolo Wifi Adaptern liegen Welten, allerdings sind die Geräte technisch auch nicht wirklich vergleichbar.Sehr viele Konfigurationsmöglichkeiten, die weit über den 08/15 Standard hinausgehen.Alles in allem klare Kaufempfehlung und 5 Sterne.

J'ai eu peine à le faire fonctionner au début car j'avais activer Nebula (je ne le vous conseille pas pour un usage personnel, trop compliquer à utiliser quand on ne connait pas l'interface). Mais après réinitialisation et suppression du Point d'Accès de Nebula, configuration très rapide (je précise que je m'en sert avec un ethernet de connecté pas en répéteur ou une de ces conneries). Vraiment aucun problème, fonctionne super bien en pique j'ai atteint 800Mb/s avec une fibre 1Gb/s. Excellent produit je le recommande vraiment.Matériel professionnel à la base. Mon en entreprise en installe à nos clients.
