Little Treasures Board Book

My children (ages 3 and 8) love this book! It's exactly as we expected, a multicultural collection that shares how children are loved through sweet terms of endearment around the world. My children really enjoyed the artwork and loved learning about the funny names in many languages. There were a few that induced extra giggly moments, like "ma puce (mah-POOss)", meaning "my flea" in French or how in Ethiopian, they say "yeinay filikliklik (YEN-ay Fa-lik-lik)", meaning "my bubble of joy." I recommend this book to anyone who is interested in taking a brief glimpse into how other cultures love their little ones too.

My students LOVE this book! I had them as 2nd graders last year when I first purchased the book, and I have them this year as 3rd graders. They love to have me dismiss them using the book to give everyone a sweet goodbye at the end of the day, and beg for it regularly. I love the sense of belonging and community it gives to them, and it reminds me why I love this job. It is a favorite for us all.

This is a great starter book for introducing other cultures and languages to preschoolers. It is simple and the illustrations are interesting. Teaching younger kids about love and affection across cultures while introducing tidbits of language and tradition is a great mix. We also did an activity of writing down what mommy and daddy call you out of affection and illustrating it.

This book is so sweet. I read it to my ESL (English as a Second Language) class the other day, and they loved it. They kept looking for their languages and were intrigued by all the names used in the different cultures. I'm so glad to find this book and add it to my classroom library.

This warm and lovely book is particularly appropriate for parents who want their children to have a wider sense of the world community.

I think I've read this book every night for a month . . . or since I gave the book to my daughter for Valentine's Day. Creative and fun!
