Ice Cream Man: How Augustus Jackson Made a Sweet Treat Better

This is such a great book highlighting a man I had never heard about. My kindergartner is doing a small report for Black History Month. While we have read various books on famous African Americans, I decided to search if there was someone related to his interest in cooking (he also says he wants to open an ice cream store when he grows up). An internet search of Black history and ice cream led me to the name Augustus Jackson and then to this new picture book. I just read it and it's really well done. Highly recommend! The last pages have an Afterword from the author with a photograph of Jackson and a page of additional sources on information on Jackson.

For me this was not only a children’s book but an adult I say this because I learned something new. I highly recommend this book
