A somewhat exciting movie and plot. One I would call a classic for sure.

I saw this movie quite a few years ago. I actually met Shelly Winters in a restaurant when I was 16 in NYC. She was very courteous to a 16 year old fan. It was a pleasure to see stars I remember in a real movie. No sex or violence. I did cry when died on screen.

The Poseidon Adventure movie is the original one with Gene Hackman and it is the one I've wanted to watch. I always like to watch the first or original movie before watching any remakes.Love Gene Hackman.

This is a review of the Blu ray edition of this film and since I have never watched it on DVD I can't make a comparison. What I can say is that the picture quality is ok to good and the sound is ok. The film itself is interesting but not particularly cheerful but has good pace and kept me interested. I understand there is a remake of this film but I have never seen it.

Man fiebert förmlich bis zur allerletzten Schlusssekunde mit den Darstellern mit,ob, wer und wann sie das rettende Ziel des Schiffes endlich erreichen. Durch Feuer, Staub, Rauch, zahlreiche Wasser-frontänen und sogar Tauchexkursionen mussten die tapfer agierten Schauspieler eine wirklicheTortur über sich er-gehen lassen. das Ergebnis ist so real und authentisch geworden, dass es einem den Angstschweiss auf die Stirn treibt.Da kann sogar nur das Multi-Millionen Dollar und 11- Oscar gekrönte Desasterspektakel Titanic von James Camerronnur den Hut ziehen-Chapeau! Auf einem 70-Zoll Flatscreen schwappt selbst das Wasser der riesigen Flutwelle bisins heimische Wohnzimmer. FAZIT: Nicht nur der beste, dramatischste und schauspielerisch 1-A- ausgezeichneteKatastrophen Thriller sondern auch einer der besten Hollywood- Streifen ever and ever. Und alles -noch damals-gottseidank ohne nervige CGI-Effekte, die ja leider heute bei fast allen Blockbustern zum Einsatz kommen. Aber hierwar noch alles echte Handarbeit und die damalige Trickeffekte begeistern noch heute noch nach wie vor. TIP: Ambesten noch schnell vor der nächsten Kreuzfahrt ansehen...lol......Trotzdem, spass mach der Streifen immer noch-einfach ein zeitloses,dramaturgisch bis ins kleinste Detail ausgeleuchtete Spektakel de luxe!

私はあの歴史的名作「タイタニック」が大好きである。だが…！この「ポセイドン・アドベンチャー」は、それすら凌駕する！タイタニックは、男女の恋愛を中心に据えている(それだけではないが)。対してポセイドン～は、人間(同士)の内面を深くえぐってくる。パニック映画であることは間違いないが、人間賛歌の映画だと思う。解説者の荻昌弘さんは、「そこにとどまるか前進するかといった時、必ず前進する方を選ぶ。しないかするかといったときは必ずする方を選ぶ、こうした考えがこの物語を力強いものにし、私たちを励ましてくれるわけなんです」と語っている。観終わったとき「今いい映画を観たんだな…」としみじみ感じる作品である。(画面がずっと揺れているので酔わないように注意(笑))ちなみに…DVDも持っているのですが、ブルーレイの方が画質は格段に上です。また、音声もDVDはモノラルですが、ブルーレイは4.0ch(DTS-HD マスター・オーディオ(ロスレス))ですので、とてもいいです。ただ注意点がひとつ。音声の4.0chですが…フロント左 = 1chフロント右 = 1chセンター = 1ch「サラウンドバック = 1ch」です。つまり、サラウンド音声として入っているのは、サラウンドバックスピーカー(SB)「1chのみ」です。また、LFEも入っていません。包まれ感や重低音といった面では期待できません。しかしそんなことは些細なことです！この映画を観ずに映画を語ってはいけない！そんな気がします。＜おまけ＞スーパーファミコンのソフト「セプテントリオン」は、この映画のオマージュですね。「ゲームセンターCX有野の挑戦状」でもやっていました。名作ですのでそちらもオススメです！

A classic movie which i originally saw at the movies in 1972. Hasn't aged at all after all those years. Still a riveting movie to watch.
