Perfect boost pedal for my needs
This was the perfect boost peddle for me and is one of the cheaper ones too!I needed a peddle to use a various 'jam' nights where I would generally only have a guitar and zero effects to use (a number of these jam nights are very small and the backline is pretty much just amps) but wanted to have a nice lead sound with some extra punch if needed. This peddle did the job perfectly. Recently used with a Marshall combo - had the lead channel set to a mild gain sound which sounded when full or rolled off the volume, then had the boost pedal set about '12' to kick in for the lead. Sounded excellent - lovely thick tone and nice extra gain. Later in the evening I pushed to boost pedal to around '2' and it provided a nice rock distortion for certain songs - really worked well.Clean sound if far more noticeable as you really get the db increase, but for my use with the gain channel it did exactly what I needed.Great pedal and a bargain at the price.

Cannot fault it...
The problem I had was not being loud enough during a guitar solo. I tried a volume pedal but this didn't really produce the required results. Plus you have to keep adjusting it as you're playing to get the correct volume. This is the perfect solution and I use it with my Marshall VS100 with a Behringer Chorus pedal through the effects loop. Then my chain goes: Guitar ---> Noise Gate ---> Booster ---> Amp. This works perfectly when gigging with it. During the sound check I set my rhythm volume on the amp itself and the booster volume on the pedal up about a quarter. After this, I did not need to touch the volume at all. I'm strumming along and when needed, I operate the footswitch then I'm riding on top of the song with a solo. Then when finished, switch it again and I'm back down underneath the singer. It comes with a 9V battery or there is a socket for an adapter (not supplied). The casing is metal and it very robust so should take a good hammering. Also a nice touch is that it has rubber feet to stop it sliding all over the floor. Fantastic price too.To sum up:* It's cheap.* It works.* If you have a problem with being heard during a solo then I would recommend.

Great booster for good money
Electro Harmonix stomp boxes usually sound good. Apart from their look, they usually do their job and represent excellent sound quality. This tone booster connected to amp in effects loop, together with distortion or overdrive, boosts the sound significantly without altering the tone. So when you look for a tone booster, only to add the volume, that's your perfect choice. To boost and make the tone rich & different, I'd recommend mini amp from MXR. Also to add more gain, low and high tones, Electro Harmonix "Knock Out" Attack Equalizer pedal is the best choice. LPB1 only adds the volume, no changes to the sound at all. Cheap volume booster.

Great little clean boost pedal
A very simple, easy to use, little pedal. Great value and comes with a 9v battery too. I bought the LPB-1 for the sole purpose to help fatten up the clean signal from my passive bass to my collection of envelope filters (as the filters weren't triggering well in comparison to playing them through an active bass). The LPB-1 does the job perfectly. As envelope filters are driven by the signal level, putting the LPB-1 in front of a filter really opens a filter up and makes it come alive. On its own, the LPB-1 boost seems pretty clean to me too, with very little in the way of tone colouration. You can also put the LPB-1 in different positions in an FX loop or at the end before the amp as a gain boost to compensate for any signal loss along the chain.

Works perfectly.
This does exactly what I need it to. It adds more volume to my sound when needed in guitar solos without colouring the sound at all. I add it to the end of my chain going into the front of the amp after my Wah and overdrive. All my modulation effects ie Chorus, Tremolo and Reverb go into the effects loop and the boost this pedal gives the whole sound no matter what is engaged is perfect for me.

No good for clean volume boosts
Bought this to use as a volume boost for a mandolin - when the fiddler in our band is shuffle bowing we just want a boost for the mandolin. This pedal managed to 'overdrive' our solid state acoustic amp (Trace Acoustic TA35R, 90's model)... Not ideal! It's definitely something with the pedal as I've used my Guv'Nor overdrive pedal with minimum overdrive before to good effect. I also tried it on my tube amp and discovered (now I wasn't just annoyed at getting mystery overdrive) that it cuts the top end. That might be good for electric guitar when too much top end can be an issue ,but we were looking for a completely unadulterated clean boost. I'm sure this pedal is good for electric overdrive, but no good for acoustic work!

Simple bargain treble boost pedal
Simple boost that drives amp nicely for classic tones. A bargain! I’ve used it on a blackstar studio 10 to great effect. Recommended for simple treble boost.

Great pedal for the money
Great pedal for the money. For me and my equipment (Fender Blues deville with a Humbucker telecaster) it colours the sound a lot on the clean channel, giving it a lot of breakup and softening the sound out. It's best use for me is in conjunction with my boss blues driver for solos in a blues rock area. Unbelievable sustain, presence, tone and control. For me it's not a wholly transparent boost but still I very much recommend it.
