Wonderful, quiet, does big work for small saw 7.5 AH Battery package
Only used it a few times with 7.5 AH battery, but I cut small to medium sized trees for over an hour and one larger soft wood tree (see photo) only used up 1/3 of battery power during all that time. No hearing protection required in my opinion! My only complaints are (and they are minor), it's oil tank capacity could be larger as she uses it up quickly, which is good for the chain. However, if you didn't bring more oil, you won't be cutting for that long before you run out. I bet this thing would run an 18 inch bar no problem and the variable speed trigger is nice. I will agree with others that chain is narrow and needs frequent tightening, but it's new so that's pretty normal, I assume once stretched out it will not need as much adjustment. Also if you are a lefty, you may find the thumb safety cumbersome as its on the left side of the grip handle. No problem most of the time, but when I wanted to make a few left hand cuts it was a little awkwardand and would better if it was ambidextrous. Overall, very impressed with this saw. Perfect for a homeowner and maybe very light commercial limbing use.

Very good battery operated saw with a few minor tradeoffs.
This Chainsaw works very well for a battery operated saw. The 7.5 AH battery seems to hold up well - cutting down a few trees and sawing into fireplace size pieces hardly used up much of the battery. A few things are a bit different with this saw: The chain is a special narrow gage (0.043 inches) - probably to reduce the amount of power needed to cut, but I found that the chain is a bit more fragile than a standard chain. It stretches a bit faster when new so you need to check the tension often, and if it comes off the bar during operation, the chain may bend such that it will not flex properly anymore, and cannot be repaired. Also, this saw lacks a true bucking spike - there is a series of ridges molded into the plastic case where the bucking spike should be, but the plastic will not dig into wood the way a metal spike would. I have not found this to be a serious problem as the narrower chain seems to reduce the pressure needed to cut through large trunk, but it could be a safety issue in certain situations. The saw is a bit noisy for an electric saw - just on the edge of needing ear protection - but of course much quieter than a gas saw.

Works great
I love the ease of use, and how quiet it is compared to gas-powered ones. Other than bar oil, no need to deal with gas, additives, or bad gas and trying to get it started. Charge the battery and it stays charged for months until it's needed. I usually keep it in the trunk for road-rage incidents.

Great chainsaw with very good battery life
The chain saw is powerful but relatively quiet. It works as well as the gas chain saws I have owned. Now I don't have to be concerned about Spring time start up or having to deal with gas-oil mixtures or tuning carburetors.

Unbelievable tool - really works!
I never thought it would work as good as it does. Battery lasts, cuts like a gas Saw and it’s quite and safer!

Why has no one admitted this.
If you are cutting straight vertical cuts, this thing is a beast.. BUT if you are trimming limbs on a tree, or cutting 45°angles on trunks, then the slightest bind will pull the chain right off the bar. I've tried this on 2 separate dewalt chainsaws and experience the same effect.. This thing is dangerous for anything other than cutting simple firewood sections off of an already clean cut log.Additionally when cutting limbs off of a larger section, the chain and bar jump around like water in a hot skillet. The weight (16lbs) is all the battery motor area, and the torque at the blade is such that it has no traction, and wants to kick all over the place..My $50 corded Craftsman chainsaw will cut circles around this all day.. Considering this is a $450 rig. Buying a $25 100 foot cord is still the better option...Additionally no one's going to steal my beat up corded saw.. But this pretty yellow toy is a magnet for prying eyes..

DO NOT MAIL VIA AIR!
Please, for the love of god and all that is holy... DO NOT MAIL THIS via air! Yes, you *can* sneak it past USPS mail clerks... but understand that *if* in the unlikely situation that something goes wrong with a battery this size (Lithium Ion, specifically) that it WILL create a thermite reaction and take down a plane!

Great homeowner saw can probably handle big jobs
I love this thing. It’s perfect for a home owner. 7.5 battery lasts plenty, it cuts great. I’m very happy with this vs mixing gas and more noise for my needs-clearing and segmenting small to medium trees in my woodsy .4 acre.Keep the chain tight and the oil checked and it’s great. Only thing is the charger seems to have burned out when I went removed an almost charged battery and put a dead one on immediately. I guess I should have unplugged and allowed the charger to discharge before I switched. It’s well made-in China though. I was looking at this or a Stihl battery unit that was smaller and MUCH pricier. I don’t recall where the stihl was made but American jobs are something I always try to support.Really happy with this saw and ended up getting the 40v weedwhacker, blower, and trimmer. I REALLY wish dewalt hadn’t discontinued the 40V line!
