There is a bubble level mounted on the top casting where the 3 legs pivot, but you may also have levels on the head you use plus it's always good to have a level that mounts in the hotshoe of your camera - that way most bases are covered.

Can long spikes be fitted to this model ?

Yes, It's got the threads from underneath. Also, the spikes are included with this
