Engrossing source material
Well-written narrative on the causation and outcome for those required to wear the pink triangle. Eye-opening!

This is an amzaing book
This was very eye opening for, when I used to think of the holocaust I would mainly think of what the Jewish had to go through. But this book got me to see other sides of the story and what it was the holocaust was like for other, including homosexuals. I think it is a good thing that this book was written to preserve the memory of those who died and those who survived in the holocaust. Some of the stories in here where so heartbreaking and I cried a couple of times, but it made me realize how lucky I am to grow up in a place where people are accepted for their differences.

Geared to middle school or jr. high students
A quick read that will be helpful to give middle school students a modicum of information regarding the terror and repression of the German citizens whose only "crime" was their homosexuality.

This Book is Exceptional
This book has taught me about another aspect of Nazi regime where homosexual Jews were the worst victims. Yet, it's hard to believe their rights were denied until recent, about 10 years ago. It was difficult for me to read survivors' stories as there aren't many survivors to share. I'm delighted to know they were honored 'n recognized. Easy to read and if ya enjoy reading different aspects, this is the one I recommend.

A very interesting topic
This topic of this book was something I hadn't ever even heard of so that's why it was so interesting.

important history
As a queer living in this post apocalyptic nightmare we call 2023, I feel alone and afraid. I keep hearing the words “transgender genocide”. I keep hearing Jewish people talk about how the Far Right movement in America sounds familiar. I live in fear of what is to come. In my fearful solitude, I want to find my ancestors- gay folkx who experienced and survived things much worse than I. I want to connect with their stories and find hope to keep going. I want to know their bravery so that I may continue to be brave.Branded by the Pink Triangle details the horrors gay men endured under the might of the Third Reich. I am filled with rage that once the Jewish people were liberated from their horrors, my gay ancestors were not freed from their social and political harassment. This book contains important stories that need to be told. I am honored to have read it.

Still not sure…
This is a hard book for me to review. The topic is interesting, and not something that is written about often. There are several stories from people that experience the holocaust that identified as homosexual. While the stories were interesting, there was no real emotional tie to draw you in, however I found myself wanting to know more about what happened. This is an extremely short book given the topic is covering. It makes me want to read more, which I guess is the mark of a good book!

Required reading.
More relevant today than ever. Unbelievably in 2013 just being gay is a crime in certain countries punishable by death or a long prison sentence. Branded by The Pink Triangle should be required reading in all secondary schools. Until relatively recently the stories of the gay victims suffering due to the nazis was untold.Josef Kohout a concentration camp survivor states:"Scarcely a word has been written on the fact that along with the millions whom Hitler had butchered on grounds of 'race', hundreds of thousands of people were sadistically tortured to death simply for having homosexual feelings. Scarcely anyone has publicised the fact that the madness of Hitler and his gang was not directed just gainst the jews, but also against us homosexuals, in both cases leading to the 'final solution' of seeking the total annihilation of these human beings."This under-told history is brought to life with stories of bravery in the face of inhuman cruelty, friendship found in the depths of despair in the camps, and the perseverance of the human spirit.

Good Quick Read
I found it very interesting. It was a little upsetting. I Knew it would be but need to read this book.

the author has succeeded in producing an easily readable account of a never to be forgotten Holocaust ...
Superficially, this is a simplistic exposition of a little documented topic; whereas in fact, the author has succeeded in producing an easily readable account of a never to be forgotten Holocaust topic (which is sufficient for most purposes but which goes on to provide useful additional information in the form of Appendix, Bibliography and Notes).
