NooElec Ham It Up Plus v2 - Extend the Range of Your RTL-SDR, NESDR or Other Radio Down to 300Hz. HF/MF/LF/VLF/ULF Upconverter and Panadapter w/TCXO & Switchable LNA/Passthrough Options

When coupled with the E4000 based NooElec SMArTee SDR & BalUn provides an excellent HF communications receiver for less than £100 when attached to a Raspberry Pi 3B+ or 4B and HD monitor. Sensitivity is comparable to my old Kenwood HF transceiver. I also bought the the HF LNA module but this is effectively redundant as it doesn't improve overall performance (sensitivity to weak signals and S/N ratio) on weaker signals.

I absolutely love this up converter, a fab addition to an ever growing set up. The new model is awesome

Re NooElec Ham It Up Plus v2 Extend the Range of Your RTL-SDR Got one of these some time back, so only just giving a review. After using for a few months now, I am NOT impressed with mine. In my opinion NOT as good as some reviewers make out these to be?. I can speak as someone who is qualified in electronics and has been into radio and repairs for YEARS! Doesn't come close in receive sensitivity as a proper VLF convertor like using a Datong, or a home made converter, if your into VERY low frequency stuff below 500khz. Even on HF up to 30mhz the sensitivity on mine is OK at best. These versions (claim) to be OK down to about 10khz or so. NOT in my opinion!!! Mine produces far too much noise (RFI) when used with my RTL-SDR, and selectivity of signals below about 3mhz is poor compared to either using a Datong converter, or a proper high end communications receiver for listening to VLF and HF. If its the REALLY low frequency geeky stuff your into (like I am) get a +10mhz or +28mhz Datong VLF convertor for frequencies from around 10khz to about 500khz, and use a comms receiver. The difference is (my opinion) a lot, lot better. Chalk and Cheese springs to mind? Not to do these too much injustice, they do work yes, but not for serious VLF stuff when used with a PC, as you get too much RFI, and computer generated noise that wipes out signals. Even tried mine connected to a decent VHF Comms Receiver, that covers 125mhz (as these up the frequency by +125mhz) and still nowhere near as good as when used with another type of HF Converter. These are only my opinions, and obviously some users will no doubt have other thoughts on these. One persons review, is not of course the be all and end all, but an insight into tests done, and an expression of those findings.

I bought it to extend the range of my Nooelec Software Defined Receiver to frequencies below 25Mhz. I spend a lot of my spare time looking for and listening for strange radio stations etc. There is an unseen world out there to investigate.

The ham it up arrived with three of the screws that hold the case together hanging out half the screws length and the nut witch hold the two of the three sma conecters were loose. This has been put together shoddy bad workmanship. Just hope it works and the insides are not the same

once conected to my NEsdr smart Mk4 i was getting lower band tranmittions i wasnt getting before

I may have received a dud unit, but I couldn’t get anything through it. There is 10dB loss through the unit anyway, according to the specs, but even with the amp switched in to circuit I only got artefacts (tones, wideband noise etc) out the other end. I tried it with a Nooelec NESDR Smart v5, and got better results below 65MHz using just the Smart in direct sampling mode without the Ham it Up. Sent back for a refund. Disappointed.

Con Zadig viene visto "NESDR SMart v5" wINusb INSTALLATE IL DRIVER. Riavviate Windows-. Ritornate su Sdrsharp, Source RTL "RTL-SDR (USB)", che andando in configurazione visualizza "R802T" . Generic RTL2832U OEM (0) .- Direct Sampling (Q-Branch), L'UNICO USABILE" --- Rtl ACG non selezionatelo. Shift selezionato per HF e VHF e' di " 120.000.000 " , e andate fino in basso. Alimentando NooElec Ham It Up Plus v2, si accende la lucetta e si accende anche quella lato Preamp, lato opposto che indica il funzionamento secondo i pulsanti di accensione. L'apparecchio funziona in modo perfetto, la cosa che non va' sono i modi Quadratura I-Branch e sampling, diversi forse per il chip. Al momento l'ho testato con SDRUNO con RSP1A play, Airspy con SDRSHARP, e onestamente il Noeelec e' quello che ha meno rumore. ONESTAMENTE: Per il resto mi sono ordinato anche per le antenne che ho Discone D1300 che uso per Alte HF e V/U/S che uso anche con R30icom, poi ho una diamond X30 quella che lavora meglio e in banda, una filare di 15m, e una miniwhip che spero sistemare presto. Ho ordinato un NANOVNA-H4 per il controllo delle antenne che devo cambiare il cavo dopo 9 anni. oramai ha fatto freddo e caldo, quindi e' giunta l'ora con altro cavo Belden H155 meglio del Messi-P airflex5 a mio parere caratteristiche. Per il momento e' tutto, se cambia qualcosa cambio la recensione . GRAZIE AMAZON CONSIGLIO METTERE DELLE FERRITI SU Cavo alimentazione USB entrata e uscita PC a 9cm circa da ridurre figura di rumore alimentazione. (Come vedasi)

This device is excellent. Paired with my NESDR Smart dongle it really has improved reception in the lower bands. Very happy!

Aun no le he sacado todo el provecho, pero funciona perfectamente y es un dispositivo imprescindible para recibir desde HF hasta VLF con tu receptor SDR.
