For children from birth going to 2 parents.
This is a lovely book but should state there are religious connotations in it. Beautifully written.

Religious undertones
Great little rhyming book to introduce your adopted child to the concept of adoption. My criticism is of the Religious aspect which I was not expecting. To say that the adoption was "planned by God above" at the end I find to be I'll placed for us as a family unit, which presents more questions and frankly confuses matters. If like us you are a family with no particular religious affiliation we wish to approach the subject of the existence/involvement of God separately to the subject of being adopted. May not be important to most people but it is to us. A little disappointed that this was not mentioned within the books description.

Religious aspect wasn't expected
Nice little story - but feels very American and the religious aspect was unexpected and for us, not relevant. I didn't use it in the end - there are other books that are much more suitable for age appropriate adoption conversations (in my opinion).

Not for UK adoptions, very American
I wish I'd read the reviews but unfortunately I didn't. This book is not appropriate for any adopted children who have been adopted through the care system, as this is obviously about a child who was given up for adoption- the text says 'I have a birthmother who placed me with loving care' along side an illustration of a teenager giving the child to its adoptive parents. Also there are several references to Christian themes, such as praying for a baby and it being God's plan, making it less appropriate for a non-religious/non-Christian family. If however, these things aren't an issue for you, then it's a nice text with nice pictures.

Lovely illustrations with short rhyming story
A short little rhyming story making adopted children feel special. It does however refer to God as planning the adoption- which doesn't work for us as we are not religious! We will think of something else to say on that page!!!

Not for us
I find the story lovely, however I spotted a few things in the illustrations I don’t want to ‘communicate’ to my child this way therefore it will not be a book on his shelf.
