wonderful litter for toilet training
I had previously written a (good) review on this product. I am updating it now, to reflect how it works with our current situation. One of our last generation of cats had asthma, so I am very sensitive to the low-dust needs of kitty parents. This litter is less dusty than most. I would never say this if I were not certain. I wish I had known about it when we had that generation of kitties. It is flushable. Clumpable? . . . so so, but this is not the point for potty trainers who want to kick the litter habit. We are on our 15th purchase of it, according to Amazon. We sometimes bought it in multiples. Zero plumbing issues. The price has gone up, but I think it is worth it for potty training ( no box, no poop scooping). The label has changed, but it is the same product we started with. Some have said it is better, some worse. It seems the same product to me, with different packaging. We have been using it to Litter Kwitter train our cats. We went very slowly. Our cats were not kittens, and they are smart and willful Siamese, esp the girl. It took us a year to get to the green ring. We have decided to leave the green ring ( last ring, about an inch to 1.5 inches wide) and keep using this litter. That way, if we have to travel with the cats, we can bring the ring and litter, and they will know where to go potty. Also, they like scratching the litter afterward, so they can keep up the behavior. With the green LQ ring, based on how much litter we are using, I expect one bag to last at least five months. That includes the many fake bathroom visits my smart cats use to get treats. The kitties rarely make waste in the litter. They leave it in the potty hole, then dig in the litter with a paw, to signal that it is treat time. There is zero dust. We have a low water use toilet. I use a toilet brush to move any litter that did not hit the water into the water. No issues. There is no door between our bedroom and adjacent bathroom. The commode bathroom area, however, has a door. We bought a cat door for it and installed a night light. This has been a perfect setup. The reviewers who say pouring from the bag is iffy are 100% right. It might work for a litter box but does not work for a litter ring. I pour our bags into plastic containers and keep a coffee scoop of the litter handy to dust the ring when they dig it into the toilet. We opened a new bag on July 10 and have about 1/3 of it remaining as of Oct 15. They have mastered the fake perch and dig for treats, so we waste as much as we need. We give them greenies dental treats for visits, which my vet recommended as the best fight against plaque ( and future dental surgeries). That may even out the high cost of the litter in the end. It is worth it for potty trainers.

and it's fine. Our box is in a shower stall and ...
I don't think I've ever reviewed kitty litter before. But this is the first litter I'm excited enough about to actually take the time. We just moved, and for the first time in 11 years the cats are using their box in a bathroom. So I figured I'd try out a flushable litter and try to make my life a little easier (versus bagging it up, having it sit in the trash, etc.).Wow. I'm so impressed.First, the downsides. This is dusty, and it's fine. Our box is in a shower stall and outside instead of a bathmat I have a litter trapping mat. It's absolutely necessary, we don't have litter around the house. But the shower has litter in it, and the mat shows it's trapping well. When I pour the litter in I hold my breath, it does produce a cloud. The packaging hasn't been an issue for me, but it's an odd bag. It has a nice handle for carrying, but then you tear it open like you would a wet wipe to get into this huge heavy bag. Now, the upsides. The smell control is great. Unless a cat has literally just pooped (and not covered) you can't tell I have two cats in the house. It absorbs liquid well and holds together when you're moving the clumps. It flushes easily. The upside of being fine is that I can get all of the extra off and back into the box pretty easily. It's really so nice to stand in the shower, scoop the clumps and solids, and just lean over into the toilet and flush them away. For two cats using one box I find I flush down about three flushes worth a day. Because it's so easy, I scoop more often. The box is cleaner, my cats are thrilled, and I'm happier. I really never thought I'd be this excited about litter, but I am. If you have your box in a bathroom, or don't mind carrying the waste to a toilet, this is definitely worth trying out.

Five Stars for the product. ZERO STARS FOR THE COMPANY.
Again I say: five Stars for the product. ZERO STARS FOR THE COMPANY.Back in the Golden Days, this product was on Amazon's Subscribe and Save plan and I could count on a new delivery every month. Then they switched formulas (which was actually an improvement), switched packaging (definite downgrade here), went off of the Subscribe and Save plan, and run out of stock on a regular basis. Whatever changes are happening behind the scenes at that company, they are NOT for the better and I really hope they get their act together soon. For the sake of my sanity and my furniture. Details:The product: Amazing. Especially this latest formulation. The best odor control of any litter I have ever used, and I've had cats all my life. Clumps easily and flushes down the toilet without any problem. My cats love it. This stuff is THE. BEST.The Company: Two major issues. 1. They keep running out of stock!! Super frustrating, as one of my cats is picky (What? A picky cat? Unheard of.) about his litter and expresses his displeasure when we switch litters on him by peeing on the bed/couch/insert piece of furniture here. In general, it's fairly common for cats to react badly when their litter is suddenly switched up on them. Why on earth can't this company do a better job of managing their inventory?? 2. They changed the packaging. It used to come in pourable plastic jugs that were super easy to open & close. Storing those jugs was much easier too. Now the stuff comes in these awful bags that are almost impossible to open without spilling. They aren't even resealable, so once you open it, you either have to use the whole bag, transfer to a sealable container, or leave it sitting open somewhere and pray no one accidentally spills it. Bah and humbug.
