Editing my review after 5 years of use
5 years I've been using this air filter. Posted a new picture of two paper towels. The one on the right is one of three sheets I used to clean the housing in front of the filter... and the paper towel on the left is the only one I used to "clean" the housing behind the filter.Zero dirt behind the filter. Small bit of grey around the edges came from dirt on my hands. The super white middie is the section that actually touched the housing.I drive down a dusty dirt lot every day. It kicks up enough dust to coat my car in a few days after cleaning. And my intake is only 12 inches of the ground at the rear of my car because it's a Mr engine. So I can definitely say it will work for most people. Can't speak for heavy off road use.I ordered a strut bar from Japan and they sent me the one for a super charged model. Would have sent it back but they wanted like $60 for shipping!, so i made it work by removing my stock air box. As you can see i only have 3 1/2 inches to work with so i had very few options. To make things more complicated my engine lid is vented so rain comes in right over the air filter. This nifty thing fixed all that. Used a 90° silicone elbow and hooked it up. No need to worry about rain. Free flowing, compact as can be. Built well too. I had looked all over for something exactly like this, glad i finally found it.

Perfect, just what I wanted.
This is perfect just what I wanted. Keeps engine intake temps down compared to open element. The filter is smaller compared to open element filters, but did not effect engine performance (~200HP engine)All in all 10/10

Works great, REMOVE PLASTIC FROM FILTER BEFORE USING, watch out for sharp edges
I bought mine to replace a JetStream Systems PRM filter with a cracked flange that I ran for 10+ years but with JetStream apparently going out of business I had to source another unit. Regarding flow, this filter flows fine I didn't notice any restriction on my supercharged 1.6 up to redline. There is another review on here that noted some deterioration on the filter media itself so I will watch for that. This filter works great, especially for the price with a few notes: 1) The filter ships assembled with the cone filter inside still wrapped in its protective plastic, which of course I discovered the hard way. If you read a couple of the reviews on here especially the one where this filter killed the engine at idle, they didn't remove the plastic from the filter inside before installing this in their car. 2). The edges of the band clamp have a burr on them and can cut you bad enough to bleed freely. "What the heck happened in the garage?" my kids asked after seeing the floor. 3) When installing a replacement filter, the edges of the aluminum housing are ever so slightly rolled inwards where they were separated from their host tube during manufacture with a tube style cutting wheel. This rolled edge will interfere with the easy installation of Spectre's own replacement air filter, which looks like it was made by a different vendor than the one shipped with the housing. I flattened this rolled edge by resting the edge of the filter on a cotton rag on top of my vise, then peened this lip flat with a small ball peen hammer. Then the replacement filter slipped in just fine, and my non-professional peening job is covered up by the clamp that holds the whole thing together. A good unit and because of the aluminum body will be a lifetime item on my car.

Amazing quality but.....
I really liked how it worked and looked in my nissan altima. Made my car maintain a constant intake temperature and made an amazing sound for my 2.5l. After installing and testing i noticed that my idle was horrible and couldnt keep a constant flow of air. This filter restricted my airflow into the car and made a very very bad idle, but at speed it was amazing haveing that direct air right into the engine.

Perfect choice
Work great on my peugeot 3008 thp 1.6 turbo, easy installation, I wish could have dyno test to see how much the improvement.

The 3" size of the opening was a perfect fit for the snorkel kit
I used this air filter inline as an addition to a snorkel kit on a XJ Cherokee. The filter is just small enough to fit under the hood with an aftermarket 90 degree silicone elbow from the throttle body. The 3" size of the opening was a perfect fit for the snorkel kit. The filter's air flow cfm is way over the stock filter rating, so the engine should breathe better even with the extra length of the snorkel. I was able to totally remove the stock airbox, giving me room for an extra battery. The filter is oiled, which I am not a fan of, but we will see how it goes. Its been great so far, for a couple hundred road miles and 5 or so wheeling trips. I drilled for and installed a pcv breather line bung into the filter housing to keep the stock setup for emissions. The bung sealed up great and there have been no issues.

Wont completely fit your m113k swap
to the 1% out there, if you're looking at this for crossfire m113k swap, the width of these are a bit too much. The hood will close but you'll find it hard to attach anything to the outside of them

Very nice little unit.
I bought this item with high expectations. I have a modified 06 TJ Jeep Wrangler. The air intake is a 3.5" stainless steel snorkel which reduces down to a 3" silicone tube system. I had a K&N 4" pod air filter in a carbon fibre canister. I never liked the canister as it was flimsy and didnt suit my application. I bought the Spectre 3" pod filter and it looks great under my hood. It matches all the other gear that I have. Its nicely polished. Ive had my vehicle in 2 motor shows and on both occasions its taken out prizes. Performance wise the filter breaths really well and works nicely with my mods. Only alteration/addition I made to the pod filter is I fabricated a pre filter which sits inside the Spectre filter box and this is to prevent any dust from reaching the Spectre pod filter. Id say I gain a slight improvement in performance compared to the K&N system. Over all Im very happy with this system when on road and off road. I cant complain.

Worked perfectly for my snorkel install. Noticed a considerable increase in throttle response. Also had a 10 percent increase in highway efficiency surprisingly.
