The media could not be loaded.  I bought this book at the same time as another in the series – Safari ( Safari: A Photicular Book (Photicular Books) ), which I had seen in a local book shop and decided I wanted to order as a present for my son.The book might seem expensive, but it is thoroughly worth the price for the quality of what you get. And in reality this is more than just a book, as you'll see from the pictures and short video I've uploaded. The 'photicular' images in the book, are akin to short videos, made up of a series of separate static images that are viewed in sequence as you turn each page. The effect is really quite stunning. The downside is each page has to be quite thick in order to incorporate all the 'photicular' gubbins, so there are only eight 'images' in the book, each of which include a detailed write-up and facts and figures about the sea creature depicted. These are sweetlips, octopus, sea horse, shark, sea turtle, moray eel, sea nettle and anglerfish. However, you do also get a single page introduction to how the 'photicular' images work, and a 10 page introductory story from the author about a diving trip, to set the scene.This book makes a great gift, and an interesting novelty to get out and show friends who've never seen photicular images before. Has to be experienced to get the full effect - can't recommend it enough.

Unfortunately, there was a tear in the spine. That's the only reason it isn't a 5 star. I didn't return because the way the book is made, I suspect it probably would have torn in time anyway.My little boy still loves it. He likes to open it to the shark page and chase us all with it. Beautifully made book and he spent almost an entire day looking at it. As he gets older, he'll enjoy reading all the facts in the book too I'm sure. For now, he's delighted with the moving pictures.

A wonderful book for any age… adults just as fascinated as children

With the wonders of modern technology these days being i this or i that, it was nice to be able to purchase a "proper book" for my son`s 6th birthday as he is very interested in the ocean and it`s vast array of creatures, this book is truly amazing, when you move the pages the pictures of the animals "animate & come to life" there is also vast knowledge added to the pages, I would recommend this book to anyone whether they be young or old.Item arrived well packaged and promptly, this was bought with the original "Safari" book also.If you found my review helpful please click the 'I found this helpful link below' Thank you Very Much!

This is a fantastic book We bought it for our 3 year grandson to read with his Dad and Mum. Wonderful book I cannot wait to give it to my grandson for his birthday. I may buy the Safari book in the range too great books Great idea from the author to make a book that actually looks like the fish are moving
