Perfect little bedroom radio
I have to admit that I’ve always found Pure radios to be practical and good sounding pieces of kit.I bought this one to sit in my bedroom and wake me up when necessary or listen to before bed. It does these jobs perfectly. It sounds good, looks good and was easy to tune and set up presets and alarms. It’s only downside is that it’s not the loudest thing I own - but you’ve probably already got that big stereo / Marshall speaker for that haven’t you?Overall, this is a really nice small radio that looks and sounds good now and will still be doing its job in a decade. What’s not to love?

Compact, great sound, and stylish.
Great stylish design and excellent sound. The display for the text is now clearer compared to the older radio I had. It also has Bluetooth so you can use it as a Bluetooth speaker so you can listen to your favourite tracks.

Really solid, easy to use, great sound.
I bought this for my parents as they had an old FM radio that broke. They never had a great FM reception in most of their house and I took a risk with Digital. As it turned out they have better Digital reception than FM. This radio is great as it is easy to use. Especially with poor eyesight and stiff fingers, this is ideal if you just want to listen! Much easier to use than my own existing radio, I may get one too as I discovered that Digital is stronger where I live too. As FM transmitters stay as they are, and Digital continues to add channels, add transmission power and add new features, digital is definitely the way to go!

Good replacement for my Tempus 1ST but...
I've had the Tempus 1ST for a long long time. It's only the advent of stations moving to DAB+ that caused me to change radio. This seemed to fit the bill 100%.The first one I received did not get a radio signal at all.... And until you have the stations scanned in on first start you can't access anything else. So that one went back. 2nd one arrived and worked great out of the box.The screen is clear, sharp and shows enough information. It can be on all the time or you can set brightness for when it is on and when it dims after a few seconds. Unfortunately the minimum setting is 1, no zero, so the screen is on ALL DAY in the bedroom when there's no one there. Does this seem odd to anyone else? The Tempus 1ST would go off completely unless the radio was on.Sound is what I expected from a Pure radio. As it's going to be used as a bedside clock radio alarm, I'm not sure the max volume level will actually get used. I connected my phone via the Bluetooth source option and it was the same as the radio so no problems there. The lowest level will be just fine when I use the sleep function as I drift into my dream world. The 4 source options are great, DAB/DAB+, FM, Aux and Bluetooth. I never used the Aux on my old one so I probably won't use it on this one. Bluetooth pairing was easy and sounds great. Have no real use for FM, but DAB/+ works like you would expect. The one thing this doesn't have that the Tempus 1ST did is a socket to plug an additional speaker in to make it stereo so the one I have for my Tempus 1ST is also going to landfill. I love this greener era we're in. Buy a DAB radio, then bin it when DAB+ comes out. Seems so ecological. This newer model of Pure is very similar to my old one in looks and I loved that, which is why I got this one. The addition of a battery box is good but to limit it to using a non-generic battery is a little disappointing, especially as they are no longer sold as manufacturer items, only as 3rd party items. The problem there is you don't know how safe they are. Just look at E-bike chargers and batteries that just keep on blowing up. Glad my radio is going to be in a fixed location.Overall this radio looks good, sounds good, but does have a couple of short-comings.*** UPDATE 2 weeks on ***The display being on ALL DAY AND NIGHT, even on lowest brightness, is annoying when I try to sleep. It's still bright enough to see with my eyes shut. I could turn the radio round but then that defeats the purpose of a display!I thought I'd contact Pure about this, despite this radio being end of life, but they want a order number beginning with 0000 and guess what, Amazon order numbers don't begin with that. So Pure support is useless.Next time I'll get a different make where it doesn't waste electricity using the display all day.

Great as alarm!
I particularly enjoyed this radio as it is fantastic to wake up with the fad- in effect of classical music (BBC Radio 3). It is a mono radio, which has its sound limits, but overall quality is still pretty good. It is a Digital Radio, not an Internet Radio, so the number of channels you can find is very limited. From 1 to 5 the channels you can select as favourites are easy to access, while from 6 onwards the way to select them is not so pleasant and simple, this could be improved. Overall, despite the few mentioned issues, it is a beautiful small Radio and fantastic radio-alarm. very pleased.

Solidly built but suffers from noise issue
The Pure Evoke H4 looks and feels like a high quality radio. It's sturdy and well made. First time operation is very easy, just switch it on and it automatically scans for all available channels. Sound is more bassy than I expected, and luckily there are some EQ presets to choose from to suit the sound to your liking.Unfortunately for me it suffers from a fatal flaw: There is a constant high pitched noise that can be heard at very low volume settings. I bough this as a bedside radio for night time listening, and the noise is an unwelcome irritation that makes the Pure Evoke H4 unsuitable for this purpose. It's not a loud noise (and it doesn't get louder when you turn up the volume), but it's noticeable and always there. My other Sony DAB is crystal clear. If you're going to use this for normal listening in your living room or kitchen then you won't even notice the noise, and for those circumstances I can recommend this radio. However, if you want a radio for quiet bedside listening then the constant noise may well be a deal breaker as it was for me, especially considering the premium price tag.

Sound quality is excellent
Not the cheapest but you get what you pay for, easy to use and a great sound, I'm very pleased with my purchase.
