High Tech Meets Low Tech
I think of jumping rope as one the best low-tech exercises. It doesn't take fancy gadgets but a lot of cardiovascular stamina. But people like to track these days and this is a fine way to do it. For me it takes a while to get used to. I'm still not, quite honestly. It's just one of those exercises I think you need to get out there and power through, not count each step and jump. But to each their own!

Jump rope with a counter
I love gadgets especially exercise gadgets. This jump rope is cool because it counts for you and has two ways to use it as a tradition jump rope or an indoor one. I like the indoor feature especially while using it on my mini trampoline. The issue is it can be tough to synchronize the two while trying to jump at the right time. Sometimes I just use the one with the counter. Also there is an app that keeps track of your jumps and has a leader board, but it’s kind of annoying to use. I’ve tried it a few times without the app and couldn’t get it to sync so I don’t think it has any memory or maybe I’m doing something wrong. The only way I could get the app to work was to have it running and connected while doing the workout. Also the app doesn’t appear to connect to apple health and seems like this is just thrown into a bigger set of devices that the app supports. So the app is a weak point. You can set different goals with the app or directly on the jump rope. I’d recommend this jump rope if you want an indoor/outdoor jump rope that counts your jumps and don’t really care about the app.

Smart Jump Rope for more fun, structured workouts, and training data analysis.
I jump rope periodically for highly effective cardio workouts to supplement my triathlon training. This smart jump rope by Momax was worth a try.Good features:R. jump rope handle charged up right out of the box in about 2 hours.Fairly simple to set up: download the Momax Sport APP and follow the instructions to link R. jump rope handle to smartphone. The jump rope was easy to assemble. Place rope buckle on end of rope, thread the jump rope through one of the upper holes on the handle, out and in through the lower holes, and back out of the other upper hole into the slotted section of the buckle, secure with end cap (check out the instructions video on products page).Decent quality materials (plastics, wired rope with outer vinyl casing), and construction.Handle is lightweight and easy to grip. Rope is also lightweight enough for general cardio or HIIT.Rope length is 9.85 ft. long and is adjustable to user preference using the rope buckles. Also includes two short ropes with cordless balls for jumping in areas with limited space.Training modes: manual/free jump, time countdown, number of skips countdown, and daily goal.Really convenient to have jump rope training data automatically recorded into the phone APP for monitoring training data and evaluate effectiveness.Definitely made my jump rope sessions more fun.Concerns:Need to link to smartphone in order to set/reset all of the training modes. This smart jump rope only records the rotation of the R. handle without any other metrics such as speed or force/power generated. The short wireless balls simply record skips/handle rotations even when user's feet haven't left the ground making the wireless mode inaccurate/useless to me.Uses a proprietary charging cable so don't lose it.Users can get most of the jump rope training benefits by using a standard jump rope and a smartwatch, stopwatch, or clock.
