Sebastião Salgado: Other Americas

Hiostorically Important First Publication
As Salgado's first published collection this is historically important and Wim Wenders film 'The Salt of the Earth' inspired me to buy the couple of books I needed to complete my collection of all Salgado's books. This is a 2014 reprint of a book first published in 1986. It is relatively slim (around 50 images) compared to his later books (and relatively expensive too) but the book is full of amazing images - both in subject matter and photographic composition and technique. Salgado is a master of light, story-telling and emotion and his images are haunting.Like another reviewer, I'm also not keen on photographs being printed over a double page but ' it is what it is' and I simply get over that to enjoy the photography. If someone was to own just one or two of Salgado's books, there are others that would probably be more suitable, but I'm delighted to have this as part of my photographic library.

Poor quality prints
The book was damaged in transit and returned. The quality of the photo prints looked very poor judging from the cover photo. Very disappointing all round.
