Q: Does this work for permanent retainers?

Not too sure about permanent retainers because my braces are only a year old. I would add that depending on what you're eating this stuff will stay in place i.e. soft foods vs meats. This stuff is like rubber cement and does it's what it's supposed to do, besides the unattractivenes of the color. I can't complain and will definitely recommend hope this helps.

After mixed it dries a white color.

Hi there. So sorry you're going through so much pain. Gishy goo is made up of 2 viscous liquids(a base and an activator). You squeeze a pea sized amount of the base and activator material onto hand, then use finger tips to mix it thoroughly for 10 seconds, then apply the Gishy Goo to the brackets or wires at the source of irritation. It fully sets in 2 minutes, stays in place better than regular orthodontic wax, and provides long-lasting relief that won't wear away like wax materials.
