I have no idea why this product has such a high rating.
I have no idea why this product has such a high rating.I thought I was assured quality with a rating of 4.7 that was showing for this product.I am guessing other buyers must have received something very different from me.It smells like pungent fish bait and the birds hated it to the same degree I do.It has a butyric acid smell, I regret buying such a large amount.I had intended to feed the birds all winter with this but it's in a bin bag and going to the tip.I will never buy from this seller again and I am not going to complain to them.I think it's important to let people know before they make the same mistake I did.I have re-ordered my normal winter type bird food, Extra Select High Energy Suet Pellets Insect Refill, 3 kg.The birds love this but it doesn't last very long which is why I was looking for a larger amount of similar stuff. It turned out not such a good idea Doh! 25 kg Dawn Chorus Mealworm Suet Pellets For Wild Birds (12.5 kg pack x 2)

Animals and birds turn their nose up at this suet.
Unfortunately, I have a poor experience to report. We have been feeding both the birds and the local animals with bird suet cakes successfully for years. Until now using Suet cakes from a different manufacturer. We got a new feeder that used this type of pellet so ordered these to fill it. Regretfully every one of the local birds and animals has turned up their nose at them. The long-tailed tits, nuthatches, GS woodpecker, Jackdaw, Magpie, Jay, Starling and many others who come to our feeders for suet regularly won't touch this stuff. Even when, in desperation to get them used to it, I poured it out on to the floor of the table. They just leave it to go mushy. Similarly, the foxes and badgers who normally love the cakes, broken into pieces just leave the pellets alone, moving them to one side with their nose if I put them on top, to get to the other food below.

Not all suppliers provide the same product
The product I received from Garden_Wildlife_Direct (labelled Dawn Chorus) was rubbish and not as pictured. The pellets are brown, smell like layers' pellets (for chickens) or rabbit food, crumble easily and the birds are not so keen on them. They appear to be relatively low in suet and high in grass or grain and smell as though the product has been toasted -as in layers' pellets that should be about half the price. Unfortunately they have 25kg of the stuff to try and swallow! The product I usually order from Twootz is excellent (5 star) but this time I was in a hurry and was not careful enough to check that it really was Twootz that I was ordering from. The really annoying thing is that I have been asked to review this product "25 kg Dawn Chorus Mealworm Suet Pellets For Wild Birds (12.5 kg pack x 2) Twootz" although what I actually received was something completely different from another supplier.

Great suet, poor packaging!
Great priced product! Probably because the supplier skimped on the packaging. If the packaging had been more robust then the item would have been rated 5*. Two boxes within an outer box, each containing 12.5 kg. The boxes were very poorly sealed, therefore suet had filled the outer packaging causing messy spillage on opening. When previously bought from a different supplier each 12.5 kg was also contained within a plastic bag! No mess on opening.Item did arrive a day earlier than expected.

the birds can't get enough
always buy these, since I've been feeding the birds with these the sparrows in my garden have multiplied from 6 to 50+ too many to count, in just 3 years, all the birds like them and the ground birds pick up any spillages, there are fewer problems with vermin than if you feed seeds and of course, they are more accessible so use less energy eating them.

Too much powder.
This is the second time I've purchased suet pellets from this company. I share the 2×25kg. pack with my brother-in-law. The first lot were fine but the latest packages were full of powder which resulted in clogging up the bottom of the bird feeders. Birds don't eat this, yet it all adds to The weight which the supplier is charging us for. Surely this could be filtered out and reformed in the manufacturing process. What a waste. It's a shame because the birds do love the pellets but I think I will give another supplier a try.

perfect for feeders
Alot of brands of suet, are to long and block up the feeders. these are great, super small and the little birds love the,. I have gone through so much. But it's easy for them to feed their young, and grab and go without feeling in danger.Always buy in bulk from here now. Great delivery from DPD included, and best price around for the weight.

Poor packaging
These pellets appear to be of good quality, without all the fine stuff you get with some cheap pellets. The boxes were well taped up,but the actual bags the pellets were in,were of really poor quality. I had no chance of lifting them out of the box and pouring the pellets into my plastic buckets, without the bags ripping and getting pellets all over the floor. I know this product is dirt cheap, but surely they could spend an extra few pence on using stronger plastic bags. I'd be quite willing to incur the cost. To be fair though,Twootz do give a warning of the fragile bags,in the product description.
