AWOL (aka Lionheart) [DVD]

Van Damme in his prime. Great film.

The Blu-Ray arrived safe and well packed.

This review is for the quality of the 101 Films Blu-Ray release of A.W.O.L. not the movie itself as we all know it is awesome!!I have viewed and own this movie on the VHS and DVD platform and was too young to catch the cinema release. Now, for the first time in the UK, 101 Films has bought this JCVD classic to Blu-Ray. The picture quality is the best you are going to get. It lives up to a 1080p quality that you can expect from an old early 90's action flick. It looks real sharp and the colours are vibrant but there is a slight grainy texture as with most of the Blu-ray versions of old movies. Considering how poor the DVD release was, 101 Films have done a brilliant job. The audio seems a little quiet but nothing that can't be sorted by knocking the volume up a few notches. Only downside is its 2.0 audio. They managed to get a 5.1 for Black Eagle, shame it couldn't be done for this. The menu is basic and reminiscent of a low budget DVD release from the early 2000's. There are also no special features, just a play and chapter select option.All in all I think 101 Films have done the best they can with this release and if you are a fan of A.W.O.L. then this is probably the best version you will ever get. For me it was well worth the £8.99 I paid and makes a nice addition to my JCVD collection.

Probably van damm's best movie

Lionheart, aka, A.W.O.L, Italian import Blu-ray, Quadrifoglio release.Van Damme takes up no holds barred fighting to make much neededcash for a sister in-law & niece. A film from back when Van Dammemade good/exciting movies, it's in a different league from the stuff hestars in now. Excellent picture quality, anamorphic 1.77:1,the quality dips slightly because this is the uncut version. It usessegments of DVD quality picture to fill in the gaps, forced Italiansubtitles pop-up when these are on screen. The subtitles are tiny andit doesn't spoil the film, it's nice to finally see a more complete version of A.W.O.L.Plays in English, removable subtitles (except on DVD parts)Extras: Making of, trailer, image gallery.

I am grateful I found this movie on Amazon, it's a rare movie to find nowadays. I grew up on a lot of Van Damme movies and action films in general. It makes me happy to find awesome movies from my childhood on Amazon. It was available at a decent price, but I am still grateful I found it. Thank you.
