Fire Dragon - Burner - Compact - Foldable

The media could not be loaded. What they don’t tell you is that water is heavy. If walking this is a brilliant stove/cooker if you don’t want gas. I use a variety of stoves which includes Trangia alcohol burners, BCB Mk 1 and Mk2 and a Soto Windmaster and finally an alpkit brew kit. Ok I admit it’s been my help during Covid lockdown to keep me sane. Fortunately I can walk to the countryside within 20 minutes. Anyway, all the above are excellent. The trangia 25 is too heavy for walking but great otherwise. The SOTO is probably my favourite as it’s a superb piece of engineering my only quibble is that the pot stand is separate and fiddly. The BCB crusader kits and the Alp Kit are different systems each in their own right are excellent but I find them heavy. I go for a walk for a few hours up on the hills and weight is important. So this little cooker is amazing. Not much bigger than a cigarette packet. It holds the gel fuel and as you see rustles up a brew no problem at all. Finally it fits in my pocket with my fire steel.Cheap and easy with my BCB steel crusader 1 cup. Edit. The fuel is dirty and left a sooty residue which I cleaned off with Brasso. I wouldn’t try and cook anything either but for a quick brew it’s fine.

Tried this out a couple of times, the stove is very sturdy and will hold up a decent sized Billy can and it looks like it is perfect for the task, make tea and heat MORe's et. al. Not sure if it will last year's but it is up to the task of was designed for.The wind shield is a bonus and adds the the solidness of the stove, the old hexi stoves used to fold up if a big billy was plonked on top.Folded, the stove will hold 3 fire dragon solid fuel tablets and the wind shield, it is very easy to set up and use, just make sure it is on a level surface that you don't mind getting scorched.I would say, keep this in your pack with a three fuel tablets and use it if you need to, at £1.50 it is almost disposable.

This is the first one I've bought, the edges weren't as sharp as some reviews may state a little stiff when opening it up, only big draw back I've found is the center fuel holder is flat again the ground, so I placed the fire dragon on top two small tobacco tins one on the right hand side one on the left to provide a base for the fire dragon to sit above any ground in using to boil water etc, this is a very compact to store and a good bit of gear for the price

I was amazed at the quality of this item. I purchased 2. For £1.99, the thickness of the steel and quality of the riveted parts were as good and in some cases better, than way more expensive ones I've used in the past. It never folded/collapsed with a heavy mess tin full of water on it and feels like a quality item when opened and closed. It doesn't fit standard hexi blocks in the central compartment, so simply trim the blocks down. It also comes with a handy detachable mini wind shield, which I thought was a nice touch. One word of caution is that a couple of the edges may be sharp. When I first unpacked it and pulled it out of the clear film, I cut myself on a sharp edge, however, on the second one I purchased the edge wasn't sharp. It wasn't too bad cut and by no means would I say "don't buy the product", it's a great little cooker, just be careful of any sharp edges. I'd definitely buy again from this company.

I tried this out over the weekend, attempting to boil 500ml of water over it and after 16 minutes and using two tablets, failed miserably. I found that the flame tended to blow out of the side of the stove in the slightest wind and didn’t seem as intense as other tablet type stoves I’ve used in the past. You also can’t double-up the tablets as the burner tray is only large enough for one, and you can’t put them outside the tray because they melt when lit. The thing I did like was the fact that it folds down and fits in a pocket nicely and that it uses bio-fuel. It’s probably ideal for boiling a tiny cup of water in an emergency but that would be about it, if you’re trying to boil enough water to rehydrate a dry meal or heat up a pouch type ration I would suggest you look at other alternatives, because the Fire Dragon disappoints in this respect.

Very convenient for a quick brew, and stable and sturdy. Even has a small windshield Fuel tray is modifiable for different solid fuels/hexamine tablets of various sizes.Super thing, nothing to fail. Very adaptatable, the tray can take one or two hex tablets, if thats what you wantto burn (can store those within), or the tray can take gel fuel straight in there, and filling will give a good twenty minute burn. The small gel packets are just more litter.... Also you can flatten the tray and burn twigs or use the cut off bottom of an aerosol can and make your own gel container of whatever size you like. For £3.50, you can't lose.Whether you want a quick brew on the trail...well easy: it's not as quick as gas, but that's no issue, or a one pot cook or fry up, this thing weighs nothing and is the size, more or less ,of a pack of cards.

While it does need a full block to cook noodles, it packs down small and makes it easy for lunch breaks when on the road for days. More faff but definitely lighter and smaller than a gas cooker!
