Hayward SP0723 Trimline 2-Way Ball Valve defective gasket
Had to send this back due to a defective gasket. This was a direct replacement part number for the same item that lasted four years, but the replacement part was nowhere near the quality of the original - which means Hayward is skimping here at the customer's expense.I just went down to the L*we store and bout a valve of higher construction. It required a little extra PVC piping work, but only took a few minutes with much better cold weather durability when pool is being stored during cold winters.Look elsewhere.Their pumps are excellent though!

O what a pain.
I am on my second pair of 3 valves that are connected to my two pool skimmers and drain. The valves work fine with one major exception that will impact those who want to remove the valves yearly when they close the pool. It is the fragility of the O ring that seals the valve body to its connector. Despite using the utmost care and the proper O ring lubricant both during use and during winter storage all the very thin rings have failed after one season. They stretch out and cannot be reliably used when reassembling. You can replace them for about $8.00 each but that is a maintenance cost one should not have to bear. I, instead, wrap the connector with teflon tape for the season and that creates a airtight seal, There are no other O rings in the entire pool plumbing assembly that last less than 5 years. I wish I knew why they become misshapen or how to prevent it but do not have a clue.

Was not totally happy in the beginning
I went with a name brand this time since my knockoff started leaking after two years. (Yeah, I know, I could have rebuilt it, but the rebuild kits are almost the same as the valve.) I was worried about leakage after I unboxed this, because at fully shut, the ball was properly aligned such that I was not getting full contact with the seal. (see pictures; showing both fully open and fully shut; misalignment). Since I was already into the job, and they pool had filled with rain, I decided to 'go with it'. It leaked where I thought it would, so I filed the stop down to give me more rotation, and tightened up on the seat. We're good now.

Ball leaks, just junk
I received two of these with the new pump/filter I purchased. Both leak through the ball.Just typical Hayward junk! Take my 15 years of pool experience, buy from anyone but Hayward, they are now importing just junk.

Not a dry valve.
Solid unit and does what its supposed to however this is not a dry valve. I bought 2 of them and they're both this way When in the closed position water still comes through. While the water isn't flowing out with any force there is a trickle. Its not enough to notice any water loss right away. I disassembled the unit to see if there was anything causing the leak but everything looks OK. Not a deal breaker for my particular application (pump isolation and filter bypass for waste). Again its not an ungodly amount of water loss but its there.

Very disappointed. Will have to buy another
Bought last year but did not install until this year. Mine does not close all the way resulting in a slow but steady leak. Too late to return. Very disappointed. Will have to buy another.

Works Great
Exactly as described, replaces my existing unit that cracked after 20 years. I uise these on my filter lines so I can work on my filter without loosing pool water. The handles do have a tendency to become brittle and break but I just remove them when I'm not using them (they pop right off) and put them in a place thats out of the sunlight and away from chemicals. seems that sun exposure prematurely degrades the plastic. They are interchangelable and I have 3 vakves so it hasn't been a problem. I broke one handle early on and then a second in the last year. I still have one old one and the new one now.so I'm good for now.

Thumbs Up!
My above ground pool has two of these valves (filter intake and outage) and after 9 years of use, the handles broke. The replacements were very easy to install and work well. It doesn't look like the design of these values have changed. I hope to get 8-10 years out of the these.
