They work fine for buffing up a shoe. I have one for brown shoes, one for black and a third for golf shoes. I've been happy with them so far.

I lost my shoeshine kit from my military service says of spit-shining those standard issue, black combat boots. I don't have a need to spit-shine anything nowadays, but definitely need to keep my dress shoes looking nice and presentable. This kit worked perfect for all my shoe shining needs. The applicator and buffing brushes work great and are nice quality. After my first use of this exceptional kit, my shoes were so glowing and happy that they almost danced their way right into the closet! I highly recommend this kit.
