Was gifted this and absolutely love it!
If you remember and wish to taste how your childhood cookies used to taste, crumble, and not taste like cardboard, these are the cookies for you! I was gifted these and loved every single cookie.

Elegant and delightful Japanese cookie assortment
I have to say, I felt pretty posh and excited opening this mysterious little cookie tin. It comes wrapped first in paper, like a gift. Then in a sleek cardboard sleeve, and finally in a darling little tin box. Virtually everything written on the exterior packaging is in Japanese, except for a bit on the back of the sleeve where they tell you the types of cookies in English. Then once you actually get the tin open, each cookie is individually wrapped and says on the wrapper ONLY in English what it is - along with a little explanation of the brand name's meaning (a red hat of happiness). The cookies themselves are fairly small and you get 2-4 of each type. The choco crunch is like a thin, crispy shortbread wafer with a chocolate topping that I think might have some chocolate puffed rice or similar element to give it a bit of extra texture. Really good. The white chocolate ball is small and smooth and has I think a strawberry cream filling. Not my favorite but still very good. The strawberry cookies small, round and look a bit like a rose. Soft shortbread cookie with lovely strawberry flavor and a sprinkle of strawberry flavored candy crystals on top.The vanilla almond biscuits are the largest treat in the box and you only get two of them. They resemble a tart, but are in the shape of a very long oval. The cookie base reminds me of an ice cream cone, only in the shape of a long boat- and the inner portion is filled with caramelized shaved almonds. Lightly sweet, you get some nice crunch and texture. I actually think this one had the least flavor in the box, but it was still very good.Great gift to yourself if you want to try something new, or would make a beautiful little gift for the friend who has everything. The tin is also quite sweet and is reusable after the treats are done (if you have a sewing kit or other knicknacks that need storing - channel your inner old lady).

Light and tasty, no ingredient list
These cookies come packaged in a nice little tin. There are four different kinds, all good but my favorite is the choco crunch. My package has an expiration date in October, about 6 months after I received them. There is a lot of Japanese writing that I cannot read but no English language ingredient list or nutritional facts so if you have any allergies proceed with caution.

Great for gifting!
Based on the packaging and quality of the product alone, this little tin of cookies is top notch. The outer paper wrapping is fancy, the reusable decorative cookie tin is sealed closed with a plastic security strip, and each of the cookies is individually sealed in partially clear plastic that allows you to view the contents (except for the foil wrapped "White Choco Ball"...which isn't even technically a cookie).I expected to be disappointed in the quality of the cookies. I guess I've been burned too many times by desserts on Chinese buffets...they look extraordinary, which excites my taste buds...but then the flavor ends up just being so-so...which has NOTHING to do with Japanese cookies...but that's the direction my thoughts took me. These definitely do not disappoint when it comes to flavor. They taste as good as they look! And they taste better than most of your basic, store-bought cookies. They literally taste "special".All of the writing on the packaging is printed in Japanese, but each of the wrappers has the cookie name printed in English. The only disappointment I've had is that there really isn't much here in relation to the cost. But the aesthetically pleasing packaging, along with the exceptional tasting treats, makes it a great option for gifting.

Absolutely stunning box of elegant, delicious cookies
This box of Japanese cookies was a delightful experience from the beautiful packaging, nice presentation, and delicious cookies. The tin box is packaged beautifully inside some outer paper to preserve its shape. Based on presentation value alone, this cookie box would be an excellent gift for the right person. The cookies were also very tasty. All of the cookies were fresh and not stale, delicate in texture, and the flavors were perfectly balanced. My favorite was the vanilla-almond cookie with the airy wafer at the bottom, and my husband preferred the chocolate crisp. Strawberry was great too, with the white chocolate apple being OK but not as stunning as the others. Overall we really enjoyed this box and would definitely recommend it as a gift for someone who likes very elegant, tasty cookies.

Tasteful presentation and tasty to eat!
These individually wrapped cookies from Japan have been such a treat to snack on during the Spring! I live in Seattle and the cherry blossoms here are in full bloom. I can see them from my window. I have taken to eating these cookies with some tea (Hojicha was my favorite partnering) and a few cookies while enjoying the view. The taste was delicate and not super sweet like most American cookies tend to be. None were stale and all lovely to eat from the visual to the palatable. The only complaint I have is I wish there were more! lol.. This would make a lovely hostess/thank you/thinking of you gift.
