The most common rule of thumb is 1 AMP per 0.001 of material thickness to get you in the ballpark of what should work. 1/8" is 0.125 thickness so 125 AMPs. <125 AMPs and using a 3/32 2% lanthanated tungsten works very well on most inverter-type TIG welders. You can weld almost anything with 3/32" though for at least a while. Welding on steel is DC though and much more forgiving and easier on the tungsten.
