Perfect for building!
These bases are super high quality with the same strong magnets as the free standing tiles. So much better than building on the floor or a table by itself! The price seems high for only two of them but for the number of uses they’ll get it isn’t bad at all. Definitely recommend!

Fabulous tiles!
We own a variety of magnetic tile brands- magnetiles, Picassotiles, and a bunch of other random brands that I can’t recall.. these work with all of those! They are crystal clear so they make excellent windows, water.. etc for builds. They also make fabulous bases! Super strong and sturdy! My kids love this set. Great value.

compatible with other magnetic building tiles
These are awesome to use as support when my kids are building larger structures with their magnetic building tiles. This set is compatible with the other brand of tiles that we have as well, I like that I am able to let the kids mix them all up and play with all of them together. The large size format of these tiles makes them ideal as a base plate or even a level between multiple layers. The fact that these are completely clear leaves them open to be decorated or designed if you choose to. I would definitely recommend these if your kids are fans of these magnetic blocks.

Good quality, but yellowish color
The plates are well made in terms of construction - they are very sturdy and seem like they could easily withstand daily use, even at the hands of younger children who may not be so gentle with them. My son has had a blast using these, so that definitely earns them some brownie points. They are surprisingly versatile and help create a strong foundation for a lot of his building projects... and it's been really need seeing his creativity in coming up with new ways to use them. I was a little skeptical considering the higher price point, but I definitely see a place for these, and they do make for a well-rounded CONNETIX collection. My only qualm is they are advertised as being clear, but the two plates have a weird yellow-ish tint to them. It's almost like the yellow hue that cheap clear coat nail polish gets when exposed to the sun. We own another clear CONNETIX set and they are actually clear, so I think it may have just been a manufacturing issue with the base plates we received. It doesn't bother my son (in fact, I don't think he's even noticed), but I probably wouldn't be thrilled had I paid full price for them. Otherwise, they've made a great addition to his collection.

Biggest base plates I have ever seen!
Today I am reviewing the package of 2 clear base plates for magnetic tiles. They are huge! Just shy of 12 inches by 12 inches each. They can connect to each other side by side or at a 90 degree angle. Or you can stack them or just use one base plate. This is basically 16 square magnetic tiles made into one giant base plate. (And then again the same for the 2nd base plate). The inside section has 2 lines of magnets on each block side and the outside of the whole thing has the traditional number of magnets of 2 per side. I have 2 grandkids that spend time at my house and their own house playing with magnetic tiles for literally hours each week. By far the most played with toy for them, so this was a great purchase for my house. They put so much time into their creations that we have to take a picture before they go home and disassemble it after they leave as it is hard to watch your creation being put back into the box! This set of 2 base plates is compatible with the 12 or so companies that represent our huge selection of magnetic tiles of various sizes and shapes. The base plates are very strong and my set is clear with no mars or scratches. I love that we can now pick up our creations or build down on the carpet rather than a table or the hard floor…it is nice to have options. This is something I would normally think twice about purchasing until I compute in the hours and hours of use it will get (price per unit of use), and the extended years of enjoyment for our grandkids, AND the fact that it can be handed down to cousins after we are done with it. Or perhaps it will be like the famous building bricks that our own kids played with and now our grandkids do too.I feel like this is a great product that will get a lot of use. It is strong and versatile for the builder, great magnets, no real downside in my opinion. The most important thing for me is that my grandkids (2 and 5) will love and use this.

Sturdy
I didn't even know a product such as this existed, so when I randomly saw it I was immediately excited to try it out. My young toddlers love to play with their magnetic tiles, but can become frustrated when their little structures fall down too easily. This gives a lot more stability to their creations with no extra work on their part. The amount of magnetic strips are doubled in these base plates, so all of the other tiles adhere really well.I don't have any other Connetix items, but we have two other brands of magnetic tiles, and both of them have worked great with these plates. They are easy enough to use, and anyone of any age who enjoys playing with magnetic tiles can make good use of these. As other reviewers have noted, they are not truly clear. They definitely have a yellow cast to them, and are thick enough they look a bit hazy. This doesn't matter at all to me as we don't have any other clear tiles to build with currently, just take note if you are wanting to match these up to other clear tiles. This does seem pricy for basically two giant tiles, but if you are an avid builder or have very young ones playing with these, it might be worth the investment.
