Yes, I have done this. The light is really light weight. Its head is completely revolvable which means that after threading the cord around the stand it can be angled faced down. Its robust, lightweight, can re-charge itself even inside the tent and gives off a surprising amount of light for a torch head that's about the same size as the palm of a man's hand. Yes. The large switch below the solar panel, press it to turn on then again for off. It needs quite a definite press to prevent it being switched on accidentally in your rucksack!The picture is actually from the S1, which is the previous model discontinued last year. The S2 has a lighter coloured glow-in-the-dark switch to help you when it's dark. Hope this helps you. Happy camping!
