Creme De La Mer.
Crème De La Mer is the original now iconic product created by aerospace physicist Max Huber, but this really is just a very basic cream that doesn’t contain anything particularly extraordinary despite all the hype about seaweed, which when you think about it, is hardly rare, nor is it a miracle worker or at all expensive. This is very costly considering that Crème de la Mer contains mostly inexpensive seaweed extract, mineral oil, Vaseline, thickeners, and glycerin. It does contain some good antioxidants, but the unhygienic jar packaging won’t keep them stable during use. This also contains some problematic fragrant ingredients like eucalyptus oil and lime extract, which could be a problem for any skin, but particularly sensitive skins, causing irritation and sensitivity as well as allergic contact dermatitis. Personally, I did not like its thick texture, neither was it rich enough for my dry skin, and it's not a good anti-ageing option as a day cream because it has no broad spectrum SPF. At this price point, this cream should be brimming with state-of-the-art ingredients in the correct packaging. Why Jar Packaging Is A Problem. Good modern skincare formulations include antioxidants, cell-communicating ingredients (such as vitamins and retinol), and skin-repairing ingredients. However, you won’t get the benefits of these ingredients to your skin if the product you are using comes in a jar. This is because these ingredients are not stable, which means they won't be effective if exposed to light and air, which is exactly what happens when you take the lid off a jar. Hygiene is of course another issue; dipping your fingers or a spatula into a jar transfers bacteria into the product, which also causes the important ingredients to further deteriorate, making the formula far less effective. Good skin care needs to be in an opaque tube or airless pump dispenser. Particularly at this price point. Fake item
I’ve been using la mer moisturising cream for years and this product is not it and believe it to be a fake. The smell and texture is completely wrong. Others have said that it is the new soft cream or gel version but they don’t smell like this either and it would also have soft cream or gel on the jar. I have used them all. Also the writing on the jar and the packaging were not the real thing.
