Q: can this filter make 10 cups of coffee in one go?

No, you can't as the cone can only hold so much coffee and then you have to add the water on top. I like my coffee strong, so I use three tablespoons of coffee for a large mug or four for two large mugs. I guess if you are serving expresso type sized cups, you might be able to stretch to 8 tiny cups, but that's really stretching it. The most you could make are six ordinary coffee cups.

The base is about 11cm and yes you can balance it in a single mug of 9cm diameter (just tested) the 2 holes stay within 6cm in the middle. I do use however a smaller one (1x2) when I filter directly into a mug and use this for a flask/2mugs as you can use more coffee but answering your query yes you can fit.

Hi - this needs 1x4 size filter papers - you can adjust the amount of water/coffee to suit whether you are using it to make one or two mugs of coffee. It works very well for either. I haven't used it with a jug.

Q: What size coffee grounds are suitable for this?

Standard ground coffee, ie for filter or cafetière, is fine. The paper filters do not let any grouts through.
