Does the cap have the retainer clip please?

Do you mean for attaching the cap to your clothing? If so, then no, it doesn't.

Does it have a built in tether?

No it doesn't, but the Gill Race Cap (RS13) does.

Is this cap washable? Label says not, which is odd for a cap sold "for on and around water"

The label says do NOT wash, bleach, tumble dry or dry clean, but as you say if its got a good soaking with salt water, then the same as my last one I will hose it off with fresh water and hang it on the line

Hi, My navy cap is a very dark navy, but definitely not black.

Love this cap, fits really well.

Great, simple Gill cap. Very neutral colour, but with the Gill logo on the side and front of the skip, its definitely been value for money for me. Bought this about a year ago and have worn it loads. :)
