Aleene's 15594 4oz Speciality Leather Glue

Good glue.

Excellent product, easy to use, stuck down a faux leather belt that had been coming apart. Very strong and looks like it should last. Easy enough to wipe away excess, and after a few hours was well glued.

However, it’s a bit thicker than some other leather glues I’ve used, so it can be slightly tricky to spread in very thin layers.

This glue is amazing. My leather jacket is quite thick and was having problems stitching it so tried this and all I can say is wow. Fantastic product. When the glue dries it goes clear so any little mistakes can't be seen.

Okay, you are probably buying this for leather and probably are debating using this vs. rubber cement, which a lot of makers use. I have used both, but I am coming back to Aleene's Leather glue and here are the pros and cons. Pros: glues up leather fast. You can cut pieces you glued together only 3-5 minutes later. The bond isn't invincible, but strong enough. You also get a lot of use out of a bottle, I've made dozens of projects with only a single one. It's also very economical and cheap compared to something like Barge cement. Cons: ruins ability to dye parts of leather if you accidentally touch a part of leather with it on your finger or it smudges. Application is also harder than cement, which you brush. In my case I use my finger as a squeegee to clean up the lines of glue. Once you do it a few times it isn't such a downside. So why use it over cement? For me it's all because of how fast it tacks up, that is the clear reason why. When I am working on a project I like to be doing 1-3 things at a time but my main focus is the piece I want done, and I hate waiting 10 minutes each time for cement application. I am also able to stick the pieces together wet and slide it a bit if I got it off position for the first few seconds, which is important to me. I like making things NOW not waiting a long time, which makes this product 5/5 stars!
