Microplane Professional Series Grater (Slider Attachment)

I never really was someone to worry about name brands of gadgets, but for graters/zesters, Microplane changed that. I have four of their zesters and graters, and their quality is amazing. This is a perfect accompaniment to one of their wider handheld graters and allows you to save your fingers or palms while getting down to the bare remnants of what you're zesting or grating, reducing food waste. This is sturdy, easy to use, and does exactly what it is designed to.

Perfect design! You slide it on from the handle side. It has a nice cover/ pusher if you want to push your food down against the grater. Really nice design & performance. I was a bit concerned by a review that said their grater hit the plastic, & a comment about things slipping through the gap between the grater & his holder.. I'm grating chocolate with the extra course plane and it works better than I expected. Of course there will be a bit of small pieces at the end that it cannot plane off into smooth shavings, but it is very minor. Works awesome. PS, I ordered this attachment because I cut my finger the first time I attempted to use this super sharp course plane without this accessory.

I am notorious for wanting to get every single bit of money I can for each vegetable I shred, so much so that my fingers usually pay a price! But not anymore! I have saved my hands a few times over with this and it fits and glides smoothly! Totally worth it and fits most handheld microblades! Easy to clean too!

This product attaches on Microplane Professional Series Graters and protects your fingers, as you expect from the product description. That's what it does. But the ingredients must fit in the small chamber, and so its usage may be rather limited to things like nutmeg, ginger, etc. Larger ingredients, like cheese, must be cut into small pieces to fit in the chamber, which may partially offset the relative advantage of the product. But whenever this works, you gain more safety margin, and that's why I bought it.

Highly recommended and absolutely necessary for grating with the Microplane Pro series if you don't want to grate your fingers into extra coarse, coarse, or fine ribbons. If you don't use it, your fingers will eventually slip on a wet vegetable or crumbly cheese, and after saying certain words at high volume, you'll remember on your way to the doctor that you were warned but didn't listen. FYI, put a light coating of oil on the grater before grating cheese--much easier to clean.

I purchased the "professional" version of the Microplane grater, which is broader than the stick-like version I purchased a decade ago. I got this to use with the wider grater that is advertised at the same time, but slider attachment wasn't as easy to use for the Parmesan cheese I attempted to grate, and the grater itself flexes with the amount of pressure used with this little holder. Perhaps with a cheese that's a bit softer than Parmesan would work, but because I am using lots of Parmesan at a time, I am probably going back to using the narrower grater, which does not flex while I am trying to grate the cheese. Not sending this back, but less than satisfied with this little attachment.

Especially as sharp as these graters are.

I purchased two of these sight unseen because I know that Microplane makes quality products and it looked like a perfect way to make it easier and safer to use the Microplane Professional Grater. This grater attachment works very well and I was not disappointed! If I only want to grate a small amount of cheese this makes that process easy and safe. Perfect addition to the professional grater - which is well worth the extra money as compared to the standard model.

Der Gleitaufsatz ist eine sehr sinnvolle Ergänzung der Reibe. Er schützt die Finger gut vor Verletzungen beim Reiben kleinerer Käsestücke, Nüssen und dergleichen. Eine Reinigung in der Spülmaschine ist möglich. Inwieweit dies auf Dauer die Haltbarkeit beeinträchtigt, kann ich noch nicht beurteilen. Den Preis des Aufsatzes halte ich für etwas zu hoch, jedoch nicht für so überhöht, dass ich auf den Aufsatz verzichten wollte.

It does not fit snugly on my Microplane Pro grater, it certainly doesn't click on, and fell off constantly while I was trying to grate ginger. It did get the ginger grated, some of it, but fell off, actually displaced so often it nearly grated me as well. Not at all worth buying.
