Premium Quality Stainless Steel Compost Bin 1.3 Gallon, Includes Charcoal Filter - Utopia Kitchen

We have only had this a few days but so far are very impressed. It is very solid and well engineered with a quality finish - better than expected and as good as if not better I hoped for which doesn't happen very often!! It looks great on the counter top. It is much higher quality than some bins I have seen. The sides are silid, and not flimsy, it is well balanced, not top heavy, and it has a brushed effect on the main bin section which looks great.The lid fits really well. I twist the top of the compost bags and knot at the side of the rim to stop them slipping down as there isn't a hoop or other fixing, but I think this is perfectly fine. NIce and simple with no parts to lose or break. A big elastic band could be another option of you find it awkward to tie knots. Bins with holes in the lid like this are so much better than ones with solid tops as moisture does not build up inside, so there are no nasty drips when you lift the lid up. Yay! And the charcoal filter is very effective at stopping smells from onions etc. I am not sure if I will go to the expense of buying more when the one supplied and the spare run out, but probably will get a couple for the the height of summer.And for me, the BEST PART is having no plastic inner bucket or paint on the outside - just pure metal, keeping additives and pollution to a minimum (I hope). Plus, for me, the inner buckets always seem to get in the way. I would prefer UK made bin, but this seems to be impossible.If it were 10% bigger it would be completely perfect but the size is actually fine. It does say "Utopia Kitchen" on the lid in small-ish letters, which I think could be moved to the side, but on the other hand if I had made something as nice as this, I would want the logo to be seen as well!I have been looking for a bin like this for a long time and am really happy with it. I hope this lasts as long as it looks like it should! Hurrah!!

this compost bin is exactly what I needed, just the right size for me who cooks every day, or for a small family, easy to wash, its stainless steel, charcoal filter is excellent for stopping smells. I loved it so much that bought another one as a gift, wash the charcoal filter regularly. its stylish in the kitchen. am loving it

This is a nice sturdy kitchen compost bin & the lid fits tightly. It's good looking enough to have on the worktop & the design looks good in either a traditional or a modern kitchen. It's easy to wipe clean, but will go through the dishwasher if it gets really messy (remove the filter for hand washing first!) A great alternative to the tacky looking plastic bins at a reasonable price.

This is a nicely made stainless steel table top bin for temporarily storing your kitchen food scraps (e.g. fruit and vegetable waste).We empty this bin into our external compost bin daily, so doubt that we need the charcoal filter. There is absolutely no point in using plastic bin bags inside this bin (isn't there enough plastic waste in the world?). As it is apparently made from 201 stainless steel, it is easy to wash out and will not stain or rust.The lid is a nice fit, but you don't have to use two hands to pull the lid away from the body; it just lifts off.

I absolutely love this, it has revolutionised my food waste.Now I can just put food in here and not need to go outside all the time and I can fill just one bag each week in this food bin.Even though the contents smell as they rot away, as long as the lid is closed, the bin does not smell at all.It looks great, is a decent size and fits perfectly into the corner.

I've had this bin for over two years now. It's holding up great. My only complaint is it has a very small hole in the bottom. Not big enough to let food out, but some liquid does to tend to leak out even with a bag. I've put some black electrical tape over it and had no more problems with leak. The lid does take a bit to get clean, and as others have stated, water does stay in the lid due to way it's made for the filter, but a towel and a bit of a swipe to dry out the inside and all is good. My filters do need to be changed now as it has been two years. I would definitely recommend this bin.

Really pleased with this stylish bin. fits right in with my kitchen. Large capacity so really pleased... no need for liner or bags .... just fill with peelings and take to compost bin.Arrived promptly... no excess pacakaging which i really approve of, just a label on the box... none of this box within a box needing packaging to stop it moving around... however i could see this might be an issue if the delivery people are not careful but i had no issues at all.Very happy

This is exactly what we needed a compact, stylish and practicable compost bin - I would be happy to have it on show just as much fitting into cupboard below kitchen sink. Unlike other customers I found the lid tight but easy to remove - needs to be snug to prevent smells escaping.I would highly recommend
