NO AC Output!
I have researched many 12v inverters, and picked this one based on the USB outputs and the fact that the AC sockets are flat on the front. That layout works best for my application.HOWEVER, the unit has significant problems... IT DOESN'T WORK. When connecting to a 12 v source, it sparks badly, meaning there must be either a short within the unit, or there is substantial load, even tho the unit was turned off. Once connected and a 110 v lamp connected, there is no AC output. The power switch does nothing. As you can see from the picture, the inverter is receiving 12.7v DC but there is no AC output. And yes, the little rocker switch is turned on.There is constant 5 volt output from the USB ports, regardless of the rocker switch; its apparently for the AC output only.I have ordered a second unit, and hopefully it works, because I've already drilled the holes in my case for mounting this inverter. I only tested the USB ports first, so I MISTAKENLY ASSUMED the unit would work. My mistake.

Is great, exactly as advertised, and even better. It has really held up to constant use. I don't worry about overcharging any of our cell phones or other electronic devices.

Junk don't buy
The USB plugs shorted to ground when I plugged in my phone caused it to start smoking and I needed a new phone
