The beginning of a great new set of characters and smiles
Big Trouble on Sullivan’s Island’, by Susan M. Boyer is the first book in a new series titled ‘Carolina Tales’. The story is not part of the Liz Talbot series, but again revolves around a private detective in the same general location. Even though this is the first in the series, the story itself appears to be complete. The main character’s life changes dramatically in the beginning of the story, resulting in new friendships. I suspect the continuing series will showcase each one of her new friends in their own separate story. As usual with all of Ms. Boyer’s books there is a mystery, mild suspense, humor and a touch of romance. I enjoyed meeting this new group of people and look forward to reading more ‘Carolina Tales’.

Loved it!!!!!!
Susan Boyer did it again! Told a tale of murder and intrigue while keeping her readers guessing and bringing the Lowcountry to life for non-locals. We locals need reminding occasionally how blessed we are to live here..... As usual, the only problem with this book is that it hooks you from the start. You don't want to stop reading because you fall in love with her characters, then she snares you with her plot. Next thing you know, you're done!!!!! Then you're sad it's over. Oh well, we'll just have to wait impatiently for the next one......Excellent work, Susan!

Great start to new series
Hadley is struggling under past misconceptions as well as others around her. She lucks into a new friendship for it to be snatched out from under her while also getting tangled in a web of mystery. I loved the descriptive details and hidden pieces that woven together to create a perfect story and character. I honestly did not expect the outcome and was pleasantly surprised. I'm excited for more Hadley and Cash, hopefully.

Sullivan's Island
This is the first in what will hopefully be a long series. Families can be complicated. Hadley's was more complicated than most. There are some chapters written "anonymously by Mrs. Josephine Huger. Reading on a Kindle makes it a little hard to go back and re-read for clarification. Also, read Susan M. Boyer's Liz Talbot series start with " LOWCOUNTRY BOIL". Enjoy!

Fresh characters and mystery from a favorite storyteller
I really enjoyed BIG TROUBLE ON SULLIVAN’S ISLAND, the first book in author Susan M Boyer’s Carolina Tales collection of novels. It provides a delightful introduction to PI Hadley Cooper, her complicated personal life, and a group of engaging supporting characters. Boyer’s love of Charleston and Sullivan’s Island is evident in every detail and description.I like that Hadley is a professional investigator. She is smart, sociable, and relatable. Other standouts are Hadley’s half-brother J.T. and troubled friend North. Really, all of the characters are memorable. Readers see some of the story through gossipy Mrs. Josephine Huder’s eyes, and these scenes provide comic relief. The murder mystery is well thought out and executed. The story moves along at a steady pace. Boyer kept me guessing and engrossed from the first page to the last. Highly recommended to any reader who enjoys a Southern setting and a good mystery to figure out.
