No. It does not have enough butter to store it in there. You need to work the butter to get cream out of it.

Not much. Less than a quart I think

Is this dishwasher safe or hand wash only?

As with other wooden utensils, we hand washed it. Too much temperature extremes plus heat drying is too much for wood.
