This is only the cover for the crate. There is no assembly required for the cover.

Does this item come with pad

The pad is not included, this is just for the crate cover.

My crate measurements state 28x42x30 , that 42 is throwing me off. I see no covers that accomaodate that width. Will the 30" crate cover work??

The Midwest 42" crate is 42"L x 28"W x 30"H.... is the crate you have a Midwest crate? If so, it is the 42" long crate, as we do not make a 42" wide crate. The crate cover that fits the Midwest 42" crate is the CVR42.

does the 30" fit the midwest homes 30" crate?

It should. I have the 30 inch amazon basics crate and it fits! I’m sure the dimensions are the same for both crates.
