Great value, very nice overall and better than expected.
If you are looking for a 8ft+ rod, that can fit into a 16.5" space, then this kit is well worth looking at.ROD:There does not seem to be a listed rating, but I'd put this rod at a medium power, fast action - the tip seems sensitive and at over 8ft long, I'm glad it collapses down to a very portable 16.5 inches. Unlike some other rods I've used, the Plusinno rod feels solid and well made - there doesn't seem to be any trade-offs in feel or any "glitches" from being made from 8 independent sliders, as opposed to a more typical (but less portable) two-piece. The sliders have a solid stop and firmly engage (friction) and I found no issues with the rod maintaining its extended form. The handle feels good in the hand with a black rubberized / foam grip - the typical alternative to cork, and the only issue I might have with the handle is that, for me anyway, the black foam / rubber could have extended further up the rod - say a total of 5 inches, rather than 3.25", but that was a minor gripe. One of the really nice features is that the reel collar, adjusting threads and rings / lock ring are all metal - see third picture. I recently bought a St Croix Legend Glass Spinning Rod ($260 just for the rod) and one of my gripes there is that the reel collars, threads and adjusting ring are plastic, and sort of cheap-feeling for a $260 rod, frankly the Plusinno reel hardware looks and feels much better. So...issues? A few - 1) Weight - this is not what I'd call a lightweight rod, but its not overly heavy and besides, you're going to get more weight with any telescoping rod. This rod (without reel) weighs in at 225 grams, as compared to my St Croix Legend Glass at 152 grams, and its noticeable. Granted the St Croix is a one-piece rod designed to be light-weight and costs $260....so, not exactly apples to apples, but if you are fishing all day, weight is something to pay attention to. 2- Balance - the balance point of the Plusinno is further forward than ideal, making it seem heavier in the hand, probably minor for an adult, but it could get taxing for a younger person, or if you're fishing all day. Overall though, it seems like a great rod, at a great price with some really nice features. In testing, I was able to cast 125 - 150ft using a .6oz lure (40 - 50 yards) which is pretty decent, especially since I'm not the best caster ever, and have been working from a boat more recently than the shore, but if you are a bank angler, 150ft is well within possibility.REEL:The reel is a 3000 size, 12+1 ball-bearing spinning reel with, surprisingly, all-metal construction (except drag adjuster). The reel is very smooth, and honestly very much better than I expected. In frame design it is similar to the current Shimano line and performed well in testing. One of the things I really appreciated was the folding crank arm (see 2nd picture) for a portable system this is a must, but honestly every reel should have this - I get so tired of having to remove the crank arms from reels when I want to store them in a box, or try fit multiple reels together -its a minor inconvenience granted, but Plusinno solves it with a very solid folding arm. Another feature I liked, and this is more common, is a switch that allows the reel to turn freely in either direction...sometimes its a nice option to have. Only quirk is that it seemed to take more effort than usual to get the bail to flip over, not a big deal, but something I noticed. Overall, excellent reel and far better than expected.LURES, ETCThe kit comes with a small selection of lures - lip-less rattling crankbait, some hooks, weights, swivels and a handful of orange plastics. Everything looks reasonable starter quality, and the crankbaits look pretty good. There are a few hooks that look good for perhaps a drop-shot and some ned-rigs as well. The only issue here is the 3lb test line you get......personally, I wouldn't throw any of the lures provided on 3lb test, if for no other reason than they are designed to catch fish that would test...pun intended....3lb test line. Really, the lures etc provided are more aligned to 6 - 8lb test (and the fish to match) than they are 3lb. Now I know plenty of anglers that like to use a really light leader, but 3lb for a lure designed for crappie and or bass, just seems too light for me - so I would upgrade the line to 6 - 8lb test. I actually loaded the reel with 10lb braid.Overall: I think this is a really great kit where you really are getting better quality, and more than you pay for. I would up-size the line and add a few lures and weights that are a better match, but otherwise its good as-is, and aside from perhaps being a tad heavy (though remember it is over 8ft and telescopic) this is a no-brainer purchase if you are looking for a portable rod and reel.

This rod is amzing, line not the best but works very well.
for the price of these rods, they are very good, really smooth, can handle freshwater and saltwater, caught some black drums on them and even a PB red drum. I recommend getting 15-20 pound braided line tho.

Lower quality as same product purchased before
I have purchased several of this seller's telescoping rod and reel combos over the past few years, and they have all stood up pretty well other than one broken rid tip that was my own fault. IMO, this latest version of the rods is almost but not quite as good quality as the earlier ones. The metal rings at the joints are not as nice or smooth, and two of them were not properly installed fully on the blank. Also not thrilled with the shorter stubbier handles. Not very good or comfortable for casting. The included 3000 series reels seem to be just as good, but only time and usage will tell that story.Purchased a two pack, but only one hook keeper was in the accessories box. It was junk, and fell off the rod so no great loss. The provided basic entry Ievel monofilament line was too heavy (13#) for my needs. I spooled 10# braid on one reel for bass and trolling, and 6# flourocarbon on the other for trout and smaller walleye in our Rocky Mountain reservoirs.Still a very good deal for the price, and love the telescoping, so can't complain too much.

Amazing so far!
I have a small 2006 corolla with subwoofers in the back so fitting a rod in my car was just not an option so I started searching for telescoping rods. I am relatively new to fishing so I mainly looked for a rod with a good reputation and decent warranty. These had solid reviews so I decided to try them and I love these rods! When collapsed and stored in the bag they are only around two feet which lets me easily toss them in the back seat. They are super easy to setup and add the reel which is smooth to me although I have little experience to compare it to anything else. The poles extend and lock easy for me and collapsing them goes just as well. I would be careful to not yank and pull them out too far because I can see someone getting into issues trying to collapse them again after that. Me and my girlfriend have been using them jsut about every weekend to practice and I was able to finally catch 3 small bluegill with it! The rod seems pretty strong and was able to withhold me yanking and pulling my hook out of a tree. If I have a bad experience I will update this review but so far I love it! Wouldn't hesitate to purchase another!

Nice quality
I bought this for my husband for his birthday. He likes to keep a full size fishing pole in his car, which is always in the way when you're trying to load other things in. He loves the new pole. Fully extended, it has great strength and he can use the reel it came with or his beloved zebco 202.

Missing parts
There is two rods, the tacklebox and only one reel. The whole freaking package is missing a reel. You know this is unbelievable.
