Fine for internet; not fine for bulk data transfer
This is a functional ethernet adapter. I plugged it into my mac and it Just Worked (TM). I was able to connect to a hub, load internet etc. Absolutely great, I was a happy camper.However.When it comes to sustained data transfer, the adapter has very poor performance. I store photos on a NAS drive and the connection was sluggish to say the least. Initially I put this down to the performance of my laptop, but then I tried it on my iMac - and the performance through the adapter on the iMac was terrible compared to the iMac's internal ethernet connection. Through built-in ethernet I could fly through photos. Through the adaptor I was having to wait a couple of seconds for photos to load (ok, they're quite big, but still!).So: My recommendation. If all you're going to use it for is internet browsing, great, fill your boots. If however you rely on sustained and reliable transfer of data (whether locally on a NAS or on an enterprise network), give this a miss.

The Missing Chapter on the Mac book Pro
So how many times have I been in the Truth Unbox studios with my Macbook Pro and had to copy items onto USB first before using networks because Steve Jobs new buddies failed to add an Ethernet socket to the Macbook Pro it wasn't for Size or ergonomics it was for a thing called modular sales they decided they could earn and squeeze more money out of people for the necessary items if they were plug on items.Problem is the Apple solutions currently for most of this Modular sales are F-UGLY as we like to say in the UK big blocky items massively overpriced usually with another e ternal upgrade completely unrelated so this Ethernet comes with HDMI connect two items completely different from each other. So the aROTaO Adapter is tiny made very slender so fits neatly in the gadget bag or laptop sleeve even ready to roll, Speed ratings were good and details of that are shown below. So plug it in and Apple OS picks it up immediately no hassle trying to find additional drivers, the speeds we tested using a data generated and signal generator send 1GB down the Ethernet send and received speeds were perfect 980 mb/s each way.So let's neat little unit the Truth Low down:PROS:- Build quality to put apple products truly to shame metal Casing.- Great price point also to embarrass Apple.- Terrific connection speed and throughput consistency.- reliable.CONS:- Didn't come with a protective case (Just being picky) .To conclude not really a negative point to not have a carry case but had to put something this unit is truly perfect and works in perfects symphony with a Macbook Pro.

Good, but not great !
I bought this adapter for using with my "Acer Chromebook R13"First the construction, The main body has an aluminium body in silver colour, both ends are plastic and there is an orange led light at the cable end to indicate power/connection, the cable is around 3mm thick and is flexible, both ends of the cable have reinforcing at the connections, generaly the build qaulity appears good for the price.Upon connecting ro my router and chromebook the adapter was connected without problems within 3 seconds, there have been no connection losses at all, as for speed ? That has been a little less than expected, I average 82mbps on my wifi, with the adapter there was little to nothing increase in speed, thought the speed test showed the connection constant and stable, I am on a fibre optic network and use a Nergear access point for my wifi on 5ghz.As there is no lan port on my Chromebook this was something I wanted to have just incase I needed a cable connection, on this point it does what it designed to do, the speed is not an issue for me, but it does disappoint on this. all in all for the price it's ok, but there are probably better adapters out there, probably more expensive though.

Superspeed your laptop's internet
I bought this because my University dorm's WiFi connection was attrocious, I was getting 2 Megabits. I thought surely the University must have a better connection than this, so I got an ethernet adapter for my laptop. After connecting it up and running a speed test I was shocked at how fast the speeds were, 885Mbps download and 704Mbps upload! I didn't realise the University gave individual dorms such fast connections. My laptop is a new Dell XPS 15, so doesn't have an Ethernet port so I decided to get a USB-C adapter so it didn't use up any of my full sized USB ports. This one has a sturdy feeling aluminium casing that gets a little warm when making large downloads. There is a single red LED to indicate it has power. There is a AROTAO brand logo on it.The adapter is also future proof as it supports up to 5 Gbps for 1000 BASE-T networks. I can confirm it definitely supports at least Gigabit speeds.Overall I'm very happy with this adapter, it does the job and is capable of high speeds.

A greay buy🤗
Bought this October 2017 due to frequent and unresolved problems with home wifi (Vodafone router issues) I have plenty LAN sockets that I installed when i wired the living-room! Adapter has a red LED at the USB end to indicate successful connection via USB. It works great on my HP ELITE X2 notebook running w10, but maybe should have bought the USB-3.0 version as that computer also has that port and USB-C is also used for power. Adapter also works really well with my HP ELITE X3 cell phone running w10m. Am getting speeds of 53 megs down and 11.5 up, which is same as my laptop on wired LAN - although ping on phone is 31ms, slower than laptop which is 7ms. I initially had problems of frequent connection - reconnection tones on the phone and adapter body getting hot, but they went away after I disabled WiFi, 4g and Bluetooth on the phone, then connected LAN via the adapter again. It is worth trying this dongle on your USB-C cell phone, especially if it is designed to work with wired LAN, such as mine. I am very happy☺
