What is the shelf life of the original flavored Spam?

SPAM is incredibly shelf stable. It can and will last for years, past the freshness date on the can. I know of a person in 2021 who opened and ate a can of SPAM whose 'best by' date was... 1995. He said it tasted exactly like every other can of SPAM he had eaten. SPAM tastes great and will last for years.

What am I missing? Over $9.00 for a 12 oz can of Spam??

How can I be assured that the product is fresh and not approaching it's 'sell by' date?

It's spam! The expiration/best by/sell by dates are almost always much later on - at the very least 1-2 years. Obviously, this does not apply to every single can; but from my experience, you would have significantly sufficient time before the can approaches any of those dates. And hey: Worse comes to worst, you can return them if you do not like the nearness of the expiration/best by/sell by dates. P.S. To Fenrir and the other, unnamed person who commented below on this product question thread on 12/15/2020 and 08/29/2016 respectively: Are you guys okay lol? A customer asked a likely simple question that he/she did not know the answer to themselves, yet you both proceeded to comment rudely lol. If you are getting upset enough to call someone an idiot, ask "what's wrong with you" and all else - just for a question as simple, elementary, and uncomplicated as this one - then I highly suggest seeing someone about that. :)

Yum good

Versatile Classic!

Yeah, people may scoff that is it mystery meat, but you know what? It is an island staple. Makes great musubi, excellent in saimen, and fried rice you make at home. Good fried in a pan, served on bread, with mayo and tomato. In todays economy, meat prices are outrageous. This puts just enough little something to flavor food. Back home this is a comfort food. Don't knock it until you try it. And the bonus is this is shelf stable. Good when bad weather hits and you can make an easy go to meal!

One of my favorite memories!

I grew up eating Spam and am never disappointed with the taste, texture or flavor. Would recommend anyone to at least try it at least once. It's not to everyone's taste. But, I like it. It is high in sodium content, so beware.

Same Great Taste From Years Ago. Easier To Open ..... Just not the healthiest.

I grew up eating this as a kid over 50 years ago. It is the same product (Classic), according to taste, to me. I wish they had a healthy version that tastes good, but that is wishful thinking. The cans are easier to open nowadays without the "key". Can't remember how many cans I had to dig into after breaking the metal opening it with the key. Much easier now as technology has advanced. lol
