Completely dishwasher safe. Mine have been through many times.

Does it come with the carrying case?

It comes with the nylon strap pocket cover that you see here, which isn't quite a carrying because it doesn't cover the tops of the utensils completely. I usually put it in the nylon thing and then wrap it in a multipurpose cloth before I put it in my bag.
