Unwashed Poppy Seeds, 1 kg

Delicious taste. Great for bread, rolls, challah, bagels making/ baking. Wonderful in a traditional Polish poopy cake or kutia too ( use a lot of alcohol to soak it in overnight together with raisins and wheat berries) Only downside is a very short expiry or rather best before date given but it is not use by but BEST BEFORE. So no worries there. Not sure why put dates on these commodities as these things hardly need BB date and you would use a kilogram of poppy seeds over a year. Wouldn't you? Hannukah or Christmas then Easter not for Passover though unless you use it in matzah bread. Unwashed , great quality so I believe these seeds can be considered kosher if someone is worried about it. Great quality , great taste. Bought them for 7.30 but Amazon is great doing bargains so can see them now at £5.50 ( a week later) will get some more. And yes, it comes from Greece. So it has got all the sunshine in it, too. What would we do and where we would be without Amazon? Once again. Thank you to all reading this and Happy Passover and Easter, whichever you celebrate.

fresh seeds,i use them for sleep,, i lightly toast the seeds(i use 2tsp) add to warm milk with a pinch of nutmeg leave them to soak in the milk for an hour or 2 and then drink 1 hour before bed. and , after opening put them in fridge to keep the seeds from going off. hope this helps someone suffering from insomnia .

As soon as the package arrived I could see that it was out of date looking by the colour of the poppy seeds that were black and not as the colour advertised which is blue/grey. Indeed the fresh poppy seeds have a blue/grey colour and taste natty. An out of date poppy seeds look almost black as those that I received see pic attached. If you don't have an experience in understanding what poppy seeds are fit for selling then don't do business in poppy seeds sales don't or check that your stock is actually healthy poppy seed and not poppy seeds which have gone off. The poppy seeds advertised look nothing like the poppy seeds that I received which are black and old beyond consumption!!!! I will call amazon to complain and request a refund this is not acceptable especially since you blocked the option to return! Please see photo attached, this is black poppy seed, meaning its off and its not as the colour advertised. The colour advertised of the poppy seeds, is a healthy colour, black is a sign it has gone off and its bitter and beyond consumption even with sugar you can never kill the bitter nasty taste of poppy seed which is old!

Good poppy seeds for cooking, baking. I wanted them for other means. They do seem to have been washed. Please dont take this as a bad review it's not. These were top notch described as received.

Good value for money for a Hungarian who had/has difficulty buying 'normal' quantity of poppyseed

I love unwashed poppy seeds, they just tastes better than washed versions. These go great with peanut butter sandwiches or toast. You simply make a peanut butter sandwich and sprinkle your desired amount of poppy seeds over the peanut butter then top it iff with your favourite bread and enjoy. I also love lemon and poppy seed cake. Poppy seeds are also a great source of iodine. But i really love my peanut butter and Poppy seed sandwiches ! These are great value for money and i highly recommend them. Tasty!

Great product. I liked the price weight ratio. If you need more than few hundreds of grams of poppy seeds, there's no point to buy small packs in the supermarket. Buy this bag. Quality is excellent and it tastes good. Make sure you use them up within a certain time before it gets rancid. If you've got more than you need, put it into your freezer, this way you keep them fresh for a longer time.

any potentially narcotic or intoxicating substance has been *thoroughly* washed off from these poppy seeds. anyone considering brewing some sort of "concoction" or "TEA?" should ABSOLUTELY not PURCHASE these. no GOOD FOR POPPY TEA.
