out of my last order I have had 8 blank or empty pods is this possible

I would assume thats a manufacturing issue, I've never had an empty pod.

These are the blonde espresso pods, personally I wasn't a big fan

Are these compatible with Nespresso Vertuo machines?

No, these are original Nespresso pods and will not fit in Vertuo machines.
