Better than other recently purchased mat/wrist pad
As other reviewers have said, this mat appears quite small, but with my high-definition mouse, I need less than half the width to reach from left to right-hand edges of my screen. Going from top to bottom of the screen is no problem either, although my mouse is much larger than average. I therefore conclude that it properly sized. The wrist pad is obviously harder than a foam one but is appropriate for gel - wrist support is excellent and the gel is unlikely to retain a permanent impression of your wrist (unlike my last mat that was supposedly gel but actually foam). The wrist support is not permanently attached to the base, and I think that enables it to be cleaned and disinfected should it become covered with sweat or grime over time. The base is firm rather than rigid and the working surface appears to be stuck to the base rather than being integral to it, as another reviewer commented, but that is pretty much the norm for most mouse mat constructions. I have had several mats purchased over many years and all from foam-backed, semi-rigid and rigid designs have the working surface bonded to the base. The edges often lift over time when flush to the base, though not always, from moisture, abrasion and wear and tear but a dab of Evo-Stik or other contact adhesive carefully applied is usually all that is required. This mat has a small raised border that surrounds the working surface which should protect the edge and limit any lifting of the working surface.

Pros and Cons
This is my second replacement in 5 yearsAfter accidently droping a cigarette on the old pad it melted and oozed the contents. very messy! This mouse pad has been my favourate for some time now as I suffer from RSI.I could not find a suitable mouse matt that would not leave my wrist aching (RSI) and was recommended that I try a matt that had padding.I gave a few matts a wiz (fabric covered) and found they were very soft, as a matter of fact they were too soft. Then trying cheaper branded gel filled mouse matts: Too hard.So I gave in and forked out the cash for one of these. Actually I dont think they are that expensive anyway.ProsVery long lasting (as long as you dont burn it or cut it up)Very Easy to clean (I just dump it in some dishwahing liquid and scrub the pad)Nice feel to the pad (Assists with reducing my RSI)No Fabric (Fabric ones get very dirty very quick and must harbour quite some nasty bugs)Sticks easily to my glass desktopOptical mice flow very easy over the surface. ( add unlike others, if it gets dirty... just clean it!)ConsGel pad falls off (I just glued mine to the base and it lasted me years)I havent seen other colors ( I wouldnt mind a black one)Well as you see from my pros and cons. I couldnt really find many cons about this matt. But maybe i'm just biased^v^kindred^v^

Good mouse mat
I like these mats as they are compact because I don't have a lot space. The bottom is slightly sticky so it stays where you put it.I would recommend this product to anyone to get, this is my third.

It's a mouse mat ...
... and actually a better than average one. The patterning on the optical surface results in very crisp control when using an optical mouse and the gell wrist support is pleasantly gell-ish.My two gripes were (1) the gell wrist support came adrift from its location on the mousemat and I had to stick it back in place with double sided carpet fixing tape and (2) the optical surface seems to be BEGINNING to come adrift from the base on which it's stuck too (just round the edges). Mind you, I've had the mat for well over a year and used it a lot.If it weren't for those two gripes it would have got a four star rating

Must do better
Though it is only a mouse mat, comfort when using a PC is vital if you're doing a lot of it. The gel support is very very hard, the working area of the mat is quite small, and the support often pops out of the surround meant to contain it.All of these contribute to pressure on the wrist and generally I found increased discomfort from using this versus other softer gel mouse mats.

Satisfied customer
This was an excellent product to purchase and use following surgery, especially as you can pop the Gel Wrist Rest part in the fridge to cool, which I found particularly soothing. For computer users who do not want this facility, just spin it around and use as a conventional mouse mat.
