This is a very comfortable footstool. It's just what I was looking for, is very sturdy and it's just the right height. We have a very low couch and the hassock I was using was several inches too tall; it's about 17" or so. This one is great if I just add a throw pillow to the top of it. It's very well made and was very easy to put together; you just have to screw the legs on. Has a very nice storage compartment which holds my Bible and several other things. 🙂 I'm very glad I decided on this one. Also our cats don't want to scratch it. The sides and legs are wood, not fabric! My hassock is fabric and one side of it has been very well scratched up!

I love this stool. It is a bit higher than many stools. I love the way it looks. The lid lifts up and you can store things in it. I only had to screw the legs on. I use it in our bedroom but I would not hesitate to use it in a living room or den.

I spent a long time hunting for a footstool. I wanted it to be wider than most of them are but I also wanted it to be a little taller. I was used to sitting in a recliner and I wanted my status be able to be resting on something that wasn’t as low to the ground as most “footstools” are. This came up in suggestions and I gave it a shot. Well I absolutely love it! It’s just the right height and the cushion on top makes it so comfortable as opposed to just a wooden footstool. And the storage space is so so handy! It can hold books and magazines, or my knitting, or a craft project I’m working on. I’ve used it for all three purposes. Very happy with my purchase

Very functional

This footstool is classically designed, holds quite a few items inside, and provides comfort for your legs and feet! I love the dark wood and leather-look! I know the footstool is supposed to be dark brown on top...but it looks almost black to me! However, black fits in with my family room decor...so I'm very happy! It's a small footstool with a lot of practicality built in! Assembly was a piece of cake!

Update 2022, we glued the legs back on with very strong gorilla glue when I wrote my first review. It's now April 2022 and so far so good, they have not broken away again. To clarify where they break, the rounded part of the legs screw into the rectangular corners, and the round legs hold fine. It's the rectangular corners that are only fastened by glue, so the entire corner of the storage box broke away.I have increased my original rating from two to three stars since extra glue is holding the legs/corners in place, but it's annoying I had to glue it. I also added pics of how the legs are attached. This is still in daily use as a small footstool by an adult in a home office and it's been fine with the extra glue and we do love it. However, unless the manufacturer has added metal leg brackets or some other similar reinforcement, or you add your own, I would recommend being cautious putting much weight on this (no using it as a step stool, rambunctious kiddos hopping on it, adult sitting on it, etc.) to be safe. Honestly, the rest of the stool is so sturdy and solid, the lack of corner bracing is surprising.Original 2020:This is really beautiful right out of the box. Heavy, solid feeling, with good classic looks. However, in 2 weeks of very light use by an adult as a footstool under a desk with nothing inside the storage compartment, the legs split away from the main body. The legs are only lightly glued in place, no screws or dovetailing for support. So disappointed because it really does look nice and it's perfect for a vintage office vibe. We're trying to see if we can secure the legs better, if not, it will be going back.

The finish on mine was very nice, a dark brown. It is sturdy and appears to be all wood. The feet simply screwed into receivers on the base and are very sturdy. The interior storage is large enough to hold the two books I’m currently reading, my journal, ruler and pens. The height is perfect for me to put up my feet while sitting on my old rocker. The footstool is sleek looking and I am considering getting a second one for my other chair.

Arrived promptly. Easily assembled. It works well as intended. Not as high as an ottoman but just right for me. I like the storage compartment to keep small items handy without clutter. Pleased with this purchase.
