Good Utilitarian Messenger Bag
I own a leather messenger bag, but wanted one that could handle the general abuse such a bag generally endures in daily use. It's spacious and holds my 10 X 14 laptop with room to spare. I appreciate the pockets on the ends that accommodate my travel mug, something my leather bag does not have. I have only begun to use it, so I can't speak yet to its long-term wear, but appears sturdy. I like the convenience of the velcro closure vs. the strap and buckle of my leather bag. Overall a no-frills product that is designed to be used for regular carrying without the worry of marring the appearance. I may end up treating the bag with a water resistance spray as the canvas clearly will not weather a downpour.

One review, for two different messenger bags.
Each bag is sold by the same company (Rothco), but I purchased Military bag form a this Seller. Each is 100% cotton, made in India. Each is heavy duty, with nice sized shoulder straps. (Not those thin ones, that cut into your shoulder.) Adjustable, but the bucket ends up being in the back? That's if you place the bag on your right side, left shoulder. The buckets are heavy duty, not big and awkward or add to the bags weight. Each bag is the same size, with the same number of pockets. Two outer, for bottles or etc. Two under the flap, with a real cloth zippered compartment inside. (I was afraid it might of been plastic, as they do make changes from time to time.)When opening the grey bag, the silica gel packets were ripped. Now I was planning on vacuuming, just not today. This delayed me in looking over my bags, as it WENT EVERYWHERE! But I did notice right off, each bag was heavy duty and sewn well. The two straps in front, I'm assuming are from the days, when belts were sewn to the bags. This insured whatever was in them, stayed inside. With the invention of Velcro, someone never thought to remove them. Unless they serve another purpose, then I'm in the wrong. If I'm not, get rid of them. (For the time and material it takes, its no longer needed.)I had intended to use them, when going to a flea market, farmers market or when taking a trip. Not a fan of packing the kitchen sink, this could be used as more of a weekend bag. The grey, with something casual goes well together. While the Military bag offers this, camping weekend feel. Either way, both are identical inside and out. (Duh, but for the colors!)As for the side pockets, I removed the inside snap. This means, the pockets can no longer snap shut. But after reaching in an catching my pinky on that looped strap inside, that thing had to go! Plus it offers a cleaner feel, when putting things into them. The other change I made, I removed the outside straps. For silliness, it does remove a little weight. But if you're backpacking in the wood, you could hang something off them or clip something to them. So yea, keep them for that reason. Now not being a sleeping bag and campfire person, there was no reason for me to use them in that way.In truth, I removed it out of vanity. The company makes so many beautiful designs, its a shame those straps seem to take away form it. This is when I need to stop and admit, I'm a whovian. (That's someone who watches Dr. Who.) So when I spotted the military bag with the Tardis on it, I was truly tempted. Even more so, when I spotted the bag with the Dalek. In the end, this was the one I picked. For its a military bag and that star on it, tells me. Its been tested to withstand, whatever I will Put it though.I had also given some thought to use them (the grey mainly), when shopping. Not, milk and eggs shopping. Mall shopping, when its more window then buying. This way you can bring whatever you need and have lots of space, for things you never know you'll be buying. (This idea came to me, when I was out. A Veteran was resting, with a bag like this on his side. Inside, something he needed to live I'm guessing, from all the tubes coming out of it. But when he noticed me, there was no shame in his eyes. Yes, he has an illness. No, its not something he wanted you to see, fear or concern yourself with.)So my plans have changed slightly, but I'm not disappointed with my purchases. (The Veteran you see, had a slightly lighter bag. So for Flea market shopping, room for whatever catches my eye. For mall shopping, I'm going with something lighter.) For as I said, heavy duty and each offers a different feel. checking into a hotel, by the beach. Or roasting marshmallows over a campfire, it all depends on which bag I'm using.

Great bag for small shopping trips
This would work better for bringing stuff to work/school, probably, like books and a laptop, but I just wanted something that's easy to throw on to go buy small grocery items. It works pretty well for that. I just got 2 rolls of toilet paper, a pint of gelato, and a giant bottle of dishwashing soap. Plenty of room for that. I put the dish soap in one of the large pockets and the 2 rolls of toilet paper and pint of gelato in the big inner bag area. Let's be ridiculous and use a roll of toilet paper as a guide for how much this inner area can hold. I would say it will hold 6 rolls easily by putting 3 rolls down and then 3 more on top. You would also have a full 2" height left of space to fill the entire width of the bag, which means after you loaded up on 6 rolls of toilet paper like a freak, you could then lay the giant dish soap sideways on top if you wanted to. Or maybe some flat stuff like a package of bacon and some candy bars. Try this and see how the cashier looks at you. But, I put the dish soap in one of the front large pockets. There are also two smaller pockets on the sides. To put this in perspective for you, that means, you could go shopping and fill this thing with 6 rolls of toilet paper, 2 extra large bottles of dish soap, and 2 normal sized bottles of dish soap. And a package of bacon and some candy bars. But, we're not even really done yet because those 2 large pockets would hold more than just 2 giant bottles of dish soap. You could slide some more candy bars in each one. And you could certainly drop a couple candy bars in each of the smaller pockets which hold the smaller dish soap bottles as well.Usually, I will go get stuff like beer and ciders with this bag. For example, I'll put a 6-pack in the big area with a couple extra tall boys in there as well and then use the two large pockets to hold two more tall boys. The most alcohol I ever bought with this was a 6-pack of bottles as well as a 24 ounce can and one of those giant Carlsberg cans which is almost 3 beers. I think it's 32 ounces. And then, I put two more 24 ounce cans in the large pockets.

My family member (uncle) wanted me to get a bigger side bag for fishing, so I bought this item it looks very big in the pictures. It doesn’t have to be to big but good enough. Best bag ever to fit my rod and more fishing equipment extra room left!

The Manliest of Manly Man Bags
I've owned at least one of these at any given time over the past 5 years or so. Initially I was drawn to it because it was Jack Bauer's man bag from Season 5 of the TV series '24', a bag that seemed to only be surpassed by Mary Poppins in terms of never ending supplies. Since then I've noted it popping up in several other TV shows being fashionably functional for characters like Daniel Graystone on 'Caprica' and Rick and Daryl in season 4 of 'The Walking Dead'.But what is so good about it? To be honest, it's all about the space and pockets. Lots of pockets. A pocket for your bottle of water, a pocket for a few spy gadgets, even a pocket for your Zombie Survival Guide Now I'm no spy nor a survivalist, but what I am is a commuter, and these babies have got me through some tough journeys. Sure, it's not the most water proof nor the most secure bag you'll ever own, but it is the best looking bag that can carry a heck of a lot of stuff! On one journey I managed to fit an entire coat, as well as a full folder of documents, first aid kit, a book, lunch, bottle of water, a multi-tool, phone charger, and... well, you get the point. The bag is heavy duty."But" I hear you ask, "Mr. Hawkguy sir, surely this bag must have flaws!" why yes, dear potential buyer, it does!If you buy this bag in olive drab you'll see the colour fade into desert drab. Black on the other hand lasts much longer, but it too also fades, but not nearly as bad as its olive sister. I've also found the strap to be too short, but I am a rather towering beast of a man, so please ignore my digression. The strap has also been a nuisance in that the stitching has been known to wear away after a while. Finally, the closures. The buttons for the side pockets tend to become worn after time too, but I've also been delivered 2 bags with faulty poppers. I looked a real fool one day reaching for an ID badge that was requested which I normally stored in my side pockets only to spend several minutes attempting to snap the pocket open without destroying the fabric! And seriously boys?! Velcro to seal the bag? Really? Sure, it's helpful if you need to reach in and grab something quickly, but in terms of security it's kind of a commuting nightmare! Luckily I've never had anything stolen from any of the bags I've purchased, but that's not without having some sort of Spidey-sense awareness in public at all times. So to sum up:+ Long lasting+ Durable+ POCKETS! POCKETS! POCKETS!- Wear- Tear- Fade- Not waterproof Zombie Survival Guide
