Fender CuNiFe/Cobalt Chrome Jazzmaster Pickup Set

I wasn't sure if I wanted to use Fender pickups or a boutique brand, but I'm really happy with my choice. I put these in a 2010 Squier vintage modified jazzmaster, a cheap instrument by all accounts, but actually well built. I replaced all the electronics with proper audio taper 1 meg pots, my favorite treble bleed mod (just a .22 nF cap, no resistors), and something special... Separate tone controls for each pickup which allows me to fine tune the high frequencies of the bridge pickup, a great mod choice IMHO. This guitar also has a fixed bridge and with these pickups it has some real sustain. There is great note separation and these pickups work quite well with drive pedals. I haven't adjusted the pole heights yet as I find that leaving them flat offers the more traditional scooped mids that single coils are known for. Despite being different magnet types between the pickups, it was easy to set pickup height and maintain consistent output. The problem with pickup reviews is that there's so many variables, not the least is which is personal preference. All I can say is that I really like them and now my jazzmaster is the guitar I've always wanted it to be.

I love the sound of thes pickups. But be careful. First set sent to me was a return and in the box was a set of squire pickups. So check. I was given a refund and ordered again and got the right ones. Highly recommend these.

The item appeared to have been opened previously. The plastic box was scratched and a clip broken. However, the contents inside looked new. I installed these in a Squire Paranormal Cabronita Thinline telecaster and they really sound awesome. I had considered installing 500 K or 1 meg pots, but I can’t imagine it sounding better than it does right now with the stock 250k mini pots.

Was all excited to get these on an incredible deal as I've been watching a ton of review videos on them. However when they arrived and I went to put them in my guitar, I found the neck pickup produces no sound. When measuring with a multimeter it shows as an open circuit instead of the expected 9.4Kohm. The bridge pickup works fine though. Unfortunately I can't replace them via Amazon, but Fender customer service is excellent.

People will say these aren’t “real” JM pickups because the coil is too tall and narrow blah blah blah, but they sound really good. Big, complex sound with great definition. The adjustable poles make a huge difference to balance out the strings.
