I purchased the Winshope Butane Torch to replace a well-worn Burnz-O-Matic model. I used the torch for a number of things including heating shrink tubing (electronic projects), cooking (carmelizing and browning), ligting the coals on the grill, and various projects around the house.There are three things worth noting for this torch. The first is the weight and feel of the unit. I was a bit surprised at the overall feel. I was expecting a light weight unit, something that wouldn't feel as strong or sturdy. This unit is quite the opposite. The weight is not burdensome but it is reassuring in the sense that it helps the unit feel solid. Similarly, the overall feel of the unit, including the adjustment system, piezo ignition, and trigger, is very good. The trigger and switch unit engage with a firm feel, an audible click, and a feeling of positive engagement. The whole unit has a similar feel.The second thing worth mentioning is the ease of changing the fuel source and the torch. The "push and twist" connector allows for quick change of an expended cartridge. Better still, the firm feel of the locking mechanism gives you a feeling that the unit has secured properly. With other units I've used the connection point is often a screw on type that never feels as secure, so I am very happy with the quality of this unit.The third things to mention is the look of the unit. Most of the time I don't pay much attention to such an issue, but when using this unit for carmelizing or adding texture to food, especially when at a party or when guests are over, it is nice to have an attractive looking unit.My overall opinion is positive for this torch. If I have to replace it then I will likely buy another from this vendor. I would also easily recommend this unit to friends and family.

I'll admit that I'm unfamiliar with kitchen torches, though I'm a seasoned home cook. If you are inexperienced with this gadget like me, then give yourself some time and flexibility to get used to how to use it. Don't wait until just before you are serving your future mother-in-law creme brulee to learn how to use this device.I practiced with this torch on toasting marshmallows on top of my hot cocoa before I moved on to the more important dish of sweet potato pie in today's Thanksgiving feast. You will see from the photos that quite a few marshmallows were sacrificed during the course of my edification. Lesson one--do not get too close to marshmallows or they will light themselves on fire. I finally achieved lightly toasted levels by turning the flame adjustment level to the halfway point and making sure I wave the flame back and forth above the marshmallows without directing the flame at any one point for an extended period of time. This also sufficiently got the marshmallows melty enough to make wonderful toasted marshmallow cookie sandwiches (next time: s'mores).The torch itself was very straight forward. It does NOT come with fuel; you have to supply that yourself. Luckily we had a canister of butane in the shed. The button to ignite the flame is also the on/off switch on the back of the torch--which is a little bit less ergonomic and required two hands for me. The design may have been better if the ignition button was a trigger around the front of the handle. I also would have liked some sort of see-through window to allow me to see how much butane fuel remained in the torch before refilling.If you found this review helpful or have questions, please let me know.

Works great as expected. Nice adjustments with the type of flame.Sometimes it can be slightly fickle when attempting to get is started.We use it the most for omelets that are slow to cook and melting chocolate on various foods.

Would’ve been a lot helpful if you showed the ACTUAL picture of the ACTUAL product I was gonna get instead of having me waste my money on something that doesn’t fit the butane bottle I bought for it.

Absolutely love love love this Torch. One of the Best I have ever bought. Great little torch with a bigger flame than I was expecting. I bought it so I could make Creme Brulee and I love it. I'll be looking for more recipes that need extra searing now that I have this great torch.

Affordable. However, a product which you get what you pay for. The torch would stay lit when it wasn’t supposed to and then the button pretty much stopped working after maybe 2 weeks tops.

The media could not be loaded. I purchased this kitchen torch so i can use it to make desserts at home.. Ive used similar ones before but this one seems alot better with the size of the flame and the adjustable flame makes it easy to pin point the flame where you need it. I went with this style of torch so i didnt have to refill the butane. If it needs chaned its just swapping out the bottle for new one..There is alot of power behind this torch for awesome price..

Great torch! I use it to sear meat that I have cooked sous vide. It is also great to use for starting charcoal in the charcoal chimney. I like not having to worry about filling up a torch, I always hated trying to fill butane lighters, this torch that attaches to a butane can avoids that whole hassle.
