I used it in my garden seating area, now with colder weather it gives comfort indoors. I've used tea lites, fairy lights and even a battery camp candle. They all look great in this lantern and give a sweet ambiance to an evening in the garden and in a cozy glow while cuddling up with a good book in the home during colder months. Good quality lantern. I like to know that my lit candles are contained in something safe so I don't have to worry about bumping one by accident. This lantern does a wonderful job at looking stylish while keeping a candle safely out of the way. The top is completely open so any light smoke or fragrance can drift out.It is a good sized lantern too so a variety of candle types could fit comfortably within. The door does hang down slightly when latched, but this does not bother me. The distressed finish is very well done and it's a nice piece that fits my other shabby chic decor. If candles are not really your thing, this lantern could also be used for housing a small plant or other decorative item. I really enjoy the extra bit of style it adds to my desk.

I love the design of it. It’s flimsy but I knew I wasn’t going to use it as a lantern. It’s true to size and the black makes it pop. Cheaply made but pretty.
